The Team
Hey there,
I'm Thomas Collin Carter. I am an actor, writer and producer based out of Los Angeles, California. I have a life-long passion for films, and have dedicated my career to telling stories that impact people and change their lives - like so many films have affected me. I graduated from The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in May of 2017, where I met the creator of Serpentine (and my closest friend), Tom Sinclair. Together we have written and illustrated a world different than any we have come across thus far.
The rest of our cast is made of up the most talented actors we know.
- Tom Sinclair is John Lazarus.
- Thomas Collin Carter is Max Winters / Theseus Blake.
- Lara Pictet stars is Rebecca Blane / Helen Blake.
- Payten Brewer is Amelia Monroe.
- Nathan Mizzie is Charles Montgomery.
- Dr. Harken/The Man is TBA.
Character Descriptions:
- John Lazarus: The distant and calculating lead detective with a dark past responsible for bringing down the serial killer known as The Man.
- Max Winter / Theseus Blake: Max is the laid-back budding musician and boyfriend to Rebecca. Theseus, who goes by Blake throughout the film, is the rookie detective brought in from Narcotics to help Lazarus. He has some especially twisted demons who like to wreak havoc on his life.
- Rebecca Blaine / Helen Blake: If our film were a symphony, Rebecca is our conductor. She is a bright, young novelist with a gruesome imagination. Helen Blake is Theseus' anchor, and new mother to their child.
- Amelia Monroe: The medical examiner with a brain as sharp as her scalpel. She has a deep connection with Lazarus that goes much further than meets the eye.
- Dr. Harken / The Man: A snake hiding in plain sight, our story's villain is played by the brilliantly evil Dr. Harken; referred to by the detectives as The Man.
- Charles Montgomery: A misunderstood librarian intimately involved in the murders of The Man.
Summary of the Story
A noir-style crime-drama that revolves around the life of esteemed novelist, Rebecca Blaine. After a decision to change writing genres, she embarks on a journey of obsession, mystery and brutality. There is a serial killer on the loose, and it is up to Detective John Lazarus and Theseus Blake to solve whodunit. This dark world Rebecca has created begins to consume her life as she knows it. The fictional world of her novel and her everyday reality begin to meld together in a way never before seen in film history. Greek Mythology is the glue that holds this story together.
How many lives will have to be lost before the detectives piece together the clues right in front of their faces?
How far will Rebecca go to save her beloved characters and herself?
Shooting Details
Serpentine will be shot entirely in Auburn, Alabama. I was born and raised in Auburn, and it is very important to me that I give back to my hometown. This place raised me, and made me the man I am today. I would be an entirely different person if I didn't have the morals and values that were engrained in me as a child.
Auburn is a college town and has a beautiful campus. We are working in tandem with Auburn University. Their film department has been generous enough to lend their support, and Auburn's nursing wing is the perfect spot for all our hospital scenes. The exteriors of the city perfectly convey the tone of our film. Auburn is historic, timeless, and slightly haunting. Ideal for Serpentine!
The Ins and Outs of Serpentine
Our campaign is all about bringing this incredible story to life to share with you. We are confident that this film is a game changer in our industry. We are not actors hoping to catch our "big break." We are business minds and artists, brought together to share a story unlike any we have seen in our careers. When you have a team like ours, filled with the passion, drive, and intelligence that ours does, you can feel instinctively when you've come across something akin to magic. And you know that you would be a fool to walk away from it. That's what we've got here with Serpentine. We are eager to get to work, and hope you will come along for the ride with us!
This is a SAG-AFTRA project!
Serpentine is going to be distributed among the 2019 indie-film circuit, with capacity to receive theatrical release in the US and Worldwide. We are confident in the responses we have received from esteemed industry professionals that Serpentine will be seen on a very large scale.
