Wrestling makes the world a better place. Not only does wrestling, more than any other sport, teach pride and self control, but it empowers our youth with character traits such as accountability, discipline, work ethic, and sportsmanship. If you are a wrestling fan, parent, or you have endured the blood, sweat and tears that come with stepping onto the mat to compete, then you know how important wrestling is for our youth and the world.

The Shasta Wolves Wrestling Team is kicking off this fundraising campaign to help with our travel, accommodations, competitions, and training costs. We hope you will see our vision and want to help our wrestlers achieve their goals.

Though we’ve had a team for many years, we are seeing a renewed enthusiasm and are excited to be grooming a lineup of young wrestlers LOADED with potential. Over the past two years, our wrestlers have shown exponential improvements and expect the forward motion to continue as we build our burgeoning team into a North State powerhouse and source of Shasta High School pride. Several of our wrestlers are aiming to make their marks by placing top four in The North Section Masters tournament, an honor forever remembered on the Shasta Wrestling Wall of Fame.

It is our goal to build a team that can compete on the state level. In order to achieve this, we must go where competition is fiercest --and that means traveling to compete with top notch teams and athletes. We have planned a challenging schedule for the 2013-14 season that will include tournaments in Reno, Sacramento, Lemoore, and Bakersfield.

Of course, this costs money. And unfortunately, we are not immune to the deep funding cuts from school districts and athletic programs. So, we need your help.

Our goal is to raise $10,000. This would fund our program for two years and allow us to focus on year- round training and state level competitions. ALL money raised will go directly to travel, accommodation, tournament entry fees, and training costs including practice gear and other needs the district will not cover.

As coach and former wrestler myself, I can confidently say that not a day passes when I do not draw upon a lesson or skill I learned in the Shasta High School Wrestling Room.
