Short Summary
Hi! I'm Heather Milam the creator and co-writer of "She's Just Making it Up." This new pilot (series) is especially dear to my heart. It is a mix of fact and fiction from a particularly painful season in life. You know, that moment when the BIG QUESTION of "What on earth am I doing with my life?" knocks you off your feet. Some choose to ignore the question and suppress it. But some, like our heroine Addie, choose to act. That choice to act can be risky, vulnerable and at times even tragic. Yet despite the many failures and mistakes along the way opportunities always emerge allowing us to become stronger and braver individuals.
Help support our vision and make this show a cinematic reality.
THE TEAM
Andie Botrell - WRITER/CO-CREATOR and overall gift of a talent. As cliche as it sounds, Andie is a true Artist. She is always, and I mean ALWAYS creating. Plays, books, short poems, paintings, musical compositions, screen plays, tv pilots. Seriously this woman never stops. And even amidst all that creation she maintains the ability to be an overall gem of a human being. If you don't know her stuff already... you should. Check out her web series Seek Help now https://vimeo.com/212271607.
T.C. De Witt - DIRECTOR and film guru. T.C., like Andie, is the truest of true in the artistic sense. An actual cartoon artist, visual artist, actor, director, writer, is there anything this man can't do? T.C. has a generosity about him that is infectious. He knows how to run a set (drama free), and is one of the most genuine human beings I know.
Abbey Cayanan - PRODUCER and foodie at heart! This woman is dynamic and I was lucky enough to snag her as a co-producer. Her film credits to date have been primarily within the corporate realm, but recently she rocked the creative arts world with her editorial debut. She can do it all from design, to casting, to editing and beyond. She just gets it done! There have also been rumors about her writing a female driven war/combat story... so let's hope that happens soon. It's a fresh perspective we have yet to see on the big screen.
Nicole Buckenmeyer - PRODUCER/CO-WRITER and a woman who just makes my heart happy. Nicole's whit astounds me and having her around makes life that much more humorous. She is a dynamic actress, writer, and puppy lover extraordinaire. She is committed to the core and has been a massive encouragement in getting this production moving and on it's feet. I'd keep an eye on this one. She's going places!
What We Need & What You Get
Filming in LA ain't cheap - especially if you choose to do a SAG project. So, all support will go to the following.
$3000 – Insurance (Liability & Workers Comp) & Permits
$1250 – Food for Cast & Crew
Breakfast/lunch/dinner for 5-day shoot
10-30 people on set per day
$2000 – Locations & Additional Equipment
Locations include: College campus, coffee shop, bar, etc...
Additional lighting/sound/camera equipment that isn’t already donated
$2000 – Editing/Color Correction
This is a must have – as we want to complete the project and have it
looking as professional as possible
$1750 – Misc. Expenses
Costumes, parking, gas, travel (for some crew/cast), and much much more.
Note: any extra or remaining funds raised will go directly to pay Crew and Cast members (at this point everyone will be working for free). No person will be profiting from this fundraising campaign in any way.
The Impact
Our hope is to represent a variety of voices throughout this series and that begins with this pilot episode. We live in a world that demands we see everything in black and white whether it be religion, race, or politics. But life is more complex, more intricate than that. Recognizing the gray can often bring us to a place of empathy and compassion. This is Addie's journey and a story we feel has a place on the big screen.
Risks & Challenges
If you know me, you know I HATE asking for money. It dates as far back as grade school fundraisers. However, I am giving it my best go and looping it in with the ever popular "Birthday Month". Strangely I feel no guilt about people gifting me things during my birthday month. So please, instead of buying me a drink for my birthday (assuming in fact you would do that), think about donating $10 or $15 to this project. It's a much better investment. Believe me!!
Other Ways You Can Help
1. Share our campaign posts and links with friends and family - especially if you know of any fine folks that like contributing to the arts. We want to create as much buzz about this project as we can, so your help in spreading the word is essential.
2. If you know a production company that currently has liability/workman's comp insurance... and would want to take on our little project, it would save ALOT in costs. Here's to hoping :)
3. Location Connections: If you have a space (or know someone connected to a space) that we could film for little to no cost, that would help us immensely. Here are some locations we need: College campus, gymnasium/dance studio, coffee shop, bar/club, classroom/theater, corporate office (ideally with cubicles), and a 1 bedroom apartment.
