What's this film about?
- A romantic comedy with dark humour. Donnie and Julie are two strangers that develop a thing for one another during their commute before they bump into each other at a support group for the bereaved, where they finally get a chance to talk.
- Julie is a chatty extrovert with a cynical outlook on life who often uses sarcasm to deflect from allowing her emotions to come forward.
- Donnie is a gentle soul with the range to be sensitive and witty, who can find it difficult to show his true feelings.
- An interesting look into how the impact of losing someone close can manifest itself differently from person to person.
Who are we?
We’re a group of ambitious 3rd Filmmaking students collaborating and working on each other’s final year films. Our team is comprised of different people from all walks of life, united by our desire to create visually stunning films with entertaining stories and characters, whilst putting forward fair and rounded representation.
Over the last 3 years, we have gathered experience in a variety of different areas of the filmmaking process to deliver something both meaningful and fun.
Why are we making this film?
Other than it being the one thing that determines the grade of our degree, this is a great exploration of the Rom-Com genre which steers away from stereotypical tropes which can present women in an unflattering light. With the boom of Rom-Coms in the 90s and 2000s, many films saw the female lead as something to be won over or obtained by her male counterpart. Women in this genre are typically shown to be lesser or take a more submissive role than the man. These representations we see on-screen lead to real-world perceptions men have on women, and women have on themselves.
With the fast-paced progression in social awareness, it is time Rom-Coms made a new name for themselves.
Alone Together focuses on how both men and woman participate in the game of flirtation, as it’s not something that just happens to the woman.

Risks & Challenges
Filming during a pandemic naturally brings a lot of hurdles that we are working diligently to overcome whilst ensuring the safety of both our crew and cast.
Cruse Bereavement Care
Money leftover from the production will be donated to Cruse Bereavement Care, the UK’s largest bereavement charity. In these COVID times, it’s important to care for those left behind dealing with the loss. Every penny raised over double what we’re asking we’d consider excessive and would be donated straight to Cruse Bereavement Care.
