Thank you for taking the time to learn about our wonderful new project, SIEMPRE FLAMENCO.
Five years ago, I created my first feature-length documentary titled THE SPANISH ROOM, which featured Yjastros: The American Flamenco Repertory Company based out of the National Institute of Flamenco (NIF) in Albuquerque, NM. That film has screened all over the world and has become the most well-known of all the features I've created over the past ten years. This fall, I plan to create an even more stunning filmic experience by revisiting Yjastros and documenting them as they prepare for another of their grand shows in order to discover what has changed and stayed the same with the world-class dance troupe.

Our Story
SIEMPRE FLAMENCO will document the extensive work and preparation that goes into creating one of Yjastros' spellbinding performances, just like its predecessor THE SPANISH ROOM did, while also diving deeper into the personal lives of those people who help to make New Mexico the capital for flamenco in the western world.
Over the past five years, much has changed for the talented, dedicated people we first met in THE SPANISH ROOM. In addition to regularly having to adapt to company members departing and new members arriving, Yjastros and the NIF have recently had to deal with unforeseen and tragic events that have forever changed the face of flamenco in Albuquerque.
In October 2013, world-renowned guitarist Ricardo Anglada suffered a stroke while performing in Texas. Ricardo has been a long-time collaborator with both the NIF and Yjastros, and his fiancée, Alisa, still dances with the company, so his stroke deeply affected the local flamenco community. Currently, Ricardo is making a strong recovery at home and studying guitar daily in order to retrain his right hand to be able to perform on stage again one day.
In December 2013, the NIF's home of 15 years in downtown Albuquerque was lost to a devastating fire. Fortunately, everyone evacuated the building harm free, but the structure and its contents were completely destroyed. Currently, the NIF is still trying to find a new physical home for the many generations of people who continue to study with the non-profit, culturally-invaluable organization.

These are just two of the most impactful events to happen to the Yjastros and NIF community over the past five years, and we are determined to share these stories with the world through SIEMPRE FLAMENCO, in addition to documenting the company during rehearsals, interviewing past and present company members, and finally filming their transcendently vibrant performance in Fall 2014.
The flamenco art form in general and the specific way that is it respected, preserved, and shared by Yjastros and the NIF needs to be documented and publicized so that future generations are encouraged to value their unique histories, cultures, and points of view through self expression. SIEMPRE FLAMENCO should help to further this effort and should be the perfect companion piece to THE SPANISH ROOM, and we are very excited to get to work!

Our Needs
As we're accustomed to saying and have demonstrated over and over through the six feature films we've already successfully produced, we believe that any film can be created on any budget if we have the appropriate expectations and plan accordingly. Therefore, we are prepared to complete SIEMPRE FLAMENCO by any means and with whatever amount of funds we raise, however, we greatly appreciate your help to ensure that we have the necessary funds to be able to focus on creating the best film possible without having to cut corners or hinder our vision.
The funds we raise will go toward all the film's minimum estimated expenses, including but not limited to:
- Equipment

- Incidentals
- Pre-Production Costs (Research, Scheduling, etc.)
- Production Costs (Filming, Crew, etc.)

Award-winning auteur Christopher Michael Roybal was born and raised in El Valle de Arroyo Seco, New Mexico. In 2006, he graduated with honors from the prestigious USC School of Cinematic Arts and Annenberg School for Communication while earning degrees in Cinema-Television and Communication and then promptly relocated back to New Mexico, where he founded his production company, Incredible Films.
Since founding Incredible Films, Christopher has created various projects in New Mexico while working to establish a truly self-sustained local film industry and provide film education and training for local youth. Christopher's faith plays the most significant role in all aspects of his life, and he infuses his desire to make the world a more loving place into all of his films. He intends to remain in New Mexico while developing his many projects and enriching the state through his art and outreach.
