Hi everyone! We are Esteban, Chia and Alejandra, and we would like to join all the important work that national and international LGBTIQ movements are currently pulling together.
Therefore, El Taller and Sin Etiquetas decided to join efforts and create “Siete & Cuarto”, an inclusive web platform hosting videos that showcase true stories of the LGBTIQ community in Peru.
This is an ambitious project that aims to give a voice and a face to all the people striving for an equal and inclusive society. We want to showcase the voices and faces of those fostering respect and inclusion as the basis of a more just and equal society without any kind of violence or hate. We want to show different realities of this important community in our country, far beyond their sexual orientations and identities.
With your support, we commit to finish this first season that comprises 5 videos and the platform itself. Our dream is to produce 2 seasons per year. Therefore, we will continue looking for funding and we will certainly apply to different funds that allow us achieving our final goal.

WHY SIETE & CUARTO?
Peru is one of the few countries in Latin America that does not have legal progress regarding LGBTIQ rights. Currently, homosexuality in South America is decriminalized in every country except for Guyana. Equal marriage is legal in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Uruguay and French Guiana, while Civil Union is duly approved in Chile and Ecuador…and how about Peru?
Despite discouragement, the continuous fight of social movements in our country has meant an incredible progress of visibility, giving much more hope for a future in which LGBTIQ people enjoy equal rights. We want to go the extra mile, we want the same.
Equity is unstoppable and sovereign
When we talk about equity, we are not just talking about Civil Union or Equal Marriage, we are also talking about access to basic services such as health and job opportunities, fighting against discrimination and violence, and pursuing a Gender Identity Law for all transsexuals. There are of course other key aspects to have a more fair and inclusive society in our radar.
We chose the name and concept of Siete & Cuarto, because it represents the time of the day when people have finished their duties and are free to be who they truly are. We believe this idea represents in a positive manner the essence of the stories we want to tell in this platform, by embracing the wide array of identities as means of freedom.
WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT?
Unlike some other materials previously produced, we DO NOT look to address different sexual orientations and identities as an unrelated, distant, or even curious subject of study, but instead we want to recognize our equalities to gain respect. We will create an attractive audiovisual platform that encourage more LGBTIQ people to raise their voices, and eventually making them part of these amazing stories.
