The Story

Sister For Sale is a fun-loving dramedy that follows complex characters as they navigate life in their 20s.  The story is centered on Jade and Sapphire Buchinson, two sisters who have never gotten along, but are forced to co-exist again after college graduation.  During this post-grad period, they are both lost in their own way and are trying to find their place in the world when it comes to identity, relationships, careers, etc.  The differences in how they navigate the world cause the division between the two, but through various trials and tribulations, they realize that strengthening their sisterhood is the only way they will survive.

The Characters

Sapphire Buchinson is the youngest, and seemingly most mature. Sapphire has no friends because she spent all of her life heavily focused on her academics in order to secure a successful future. She also spent most of her life trying to make her mom proud. Sapphire has it all figured out. She wants to obtain an internship at a top law firm, graduate law school, and successfully climb her way to the top as a lawyer. However, Sapphire realizes that she has been turning a blind eye to what she truly wants out of life. This reality causes her to feel lost, which is horrifying to Sapphire because she has never lived a day without going according to her plan. Sapphire has to find her way toward true fulfillment, but first, she has to realize what is holding her back.

Jade Buchinson is the older sister who is labeled as the "rebel" as a child. Compared to Sapphire, she feels as though she was treated unfairly because she challenged her mother's teachings and beliefs. Jade loves fashion and dreams of becoming a famous fashion designer. However, she does not have the mindset or the funds yet to fully focus on her goals. When you first meet Jade, she is a loud-mouthed party machine that just wants to get lit, shop, and live off her dad's money. When she sees everyone around her taking their lives seriously, she realizes she has to stop the act and grow up in order to secure her future. She knows that her dreams will come true, but she has to get used to making sacrifices in order for them to happen.

Mila is Jade's bestie from college who moved to Atlanta after college to pursue a career in Instagram modeling.  Eventually, her career took off and she is now an entrepreneur who is wrapped up in the social media world in both good and bad ways.  She is selfish, secretive, and unrecognizably out of touch with reality.  She also puts on a mask to hide her hardships and insecurities.  Mila endures troubles in her work life and love life which ultimately causes her journey toward happiness to be a lot harder than she thought.

Davis works a regular 9-5, but his heart is anchored on being a Film Director. His life took a turn when bills and responsibilities came knocking after graduating college. Davis is a lover boy but has trouble with self-confidence. He also has trouble believing in himself which causes a deep fear of failure and lack. Sooner or later, Davis has to take control of his life in order to find true peace and joy

Jalen is a free-spirited south-side native who does whatever he can to keep money in his pockets. He dropped out of college and enjoys indulging in different hobbies and jobs that keep him busy. Beneath the surface, He is not sure of what he wants out of life. However, when certain people are placed in his life, he begins to discover himself which leads him on a path worth fighting for.

Esco is a rapper in Atlanta who dreams of leading a huge fan base and selling out arenas. Ever since he dropped out of college to pursue his dreams, life has not been easy, especially without his first love Mila. When he hears the worst news of his life, he stops at nothing to get his love life and career life back on the right track.

Comparables

Sister For Sale can be compared to a number of popular series such as Good Trouble, Insecure, Twenties, and Rap Sh!t. Though Sister 4 Sale is composed of similar elements as the aforementioned series’, Sister For Sale is unique and unlike anything you’ve seen before.

Sister For Sale has a special place in our hearts. We’re so passionate about this series because we truly believe the characters have stories that so many people can relate to. It is our hope that the themes found within Sister For Sale encourage others by letting them know– you are not alone. We’re all figuring it out, and adulting is hard. We are passionate about producing this series, we know that it will touch the hearts of many as it has touched ours. 

What We Need & What You Get

Sister For Sale is Space Studios' first television series i.e our baby!  This story will impact many creative young adults and creatives who experience troubles in adulthood.  This story needs to reach them!  

We have some amazing plans for the show such as submitting our Pilot episode to film festivals, pitching it at film pitch events and competitions, and getting it seen by distributors and producers.  Principle photography for our pilot episode begins May 2024, and we need your help with costs from pre-production to post-production.  

Our goal is $15,000, which will help us secure locations, pay our crew, and ensure that our final show cut is film festival ready by the end of June 2024.
