My name is David Bradburn and this summer I will direct a short film,
"Sisters." I collaborated with screenwriter and Northwestern
University Department of Radio-TV-Film Chair, David E. Tolchinsky to create
a character-driven story that focuses on our universal struggle with
aging.

"Sisters" is a short film about Barbara, an eighty year old painter who
finds herself in a nursing home after her daughter fears that she may
suffer from Alzheimer's disease. After navigating the somewhat
tragi-comical social scene of the nursing home's cafeteria, Barbara
makes a new friend in Minnie, a warm but clingy fellow resident. The
film plays out somewhat like a horror film as Barbara’s confusion about
her friendship and surroundings grow, but is treated that way to
highlight the fear of aging and seeing those we love grow old.
Watch Director David Bradburn and Writer David E. Tolchinsky discuss how the story came about:

At the time of this campaign's launch, we have already signed contracts with some amazing actors and crew members. That said, we need support from people like you to make the highest quality project. We have 40 days to reach our $3,000 goal.
We've been able to use savings to fund most of the film, but a little extra would be a great help. Your contribution will go towards post production fees for sound design and coloring to create the best end product.

AND, because we are always looking to give back to the community, we have decided to give a percentage of the funds we raise to a non profit benefiting the aging population.
Dreams for Seniors Charity will be receiving 5% of the funds we raise! Dreams for Seniors is dedicated to fulfilling the needs of senior citizens.

So you would be supporting the Arts and the Senior population.

As a way of saying thank you for the support, we're giving away some perks. The rewards range from handwritten thank you notes, signed stills of the movie, digital downloads of the film, all the way to receiving Executive Producer credit!
You will also get to be a part of making a movie- how exciting is it to play a part of something as collaborative and creative as making a movie?!

David Bradburn, Director / ProducerI am a Chicago Public School teacher and when not teaching high school students about the craft of filmmaking and Literature, I am dedicating myself to creating films with emphasis on life changes and resolution of the past.
In my previous short film, I tackled similar issues that will be found in "Sisters". Read a review of"Home," which also deals with caretaking, illness, and aging. Strangers in a Cinema Review of "Home".
My collaborative spirit has led me to work with talented Chicago artists that you can read about below.
