FAQs
Q: I don't live in the US or Canada, can I still order a Snap?
A: While our hardware (the bulb) may twist into your light socket, our only active servers will be located in North America until next year. This Indiegogo campaign is intended for US & Canadian contributors only.
Q: When will I receive my Snap?
A: You will receive your order in late October or early November depending on your delivery address
Q: Is there a free trial for the cloud storage plans?
A: All Indiegogo contributors will receive a 1 month free trial for the 7 day storage option (ie. the last 7 days of footage will be stored for a one month period).
Q: What happens after the month of free cloud storage and motion-detection?
A: You have 3 options as a Sengled Snap customer after the free trial. 1. Using the free service which includes all features besides motion-detection and cloud storage. 2. A 7-day rolling storage plan with motion-detection and all key features 3. A 30-day rolling storage plan with motion-detection and all key features.
Q: Why is motion-detection not offered in the continuous free service plan?
A: After the free trial, motion-detection will only be offered with the 7 day or 30 day storage plans. The free service will allow you to view video/audio 24/7, use night vision, light scheduling, two way audio communication, and more. The reason why motion-detection is not included in the free service is because it’s a very advanced algorithm running on our server, constantly checking for changes in your motion zones. While this is impressive and all, it’s also expensive and increases our costs per bulb, therefore it is included in our paid services.
Q: How does Snap connect to the internet?
A: Snap has dual band Wi-Fi on-board. That means it can connect to your 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz Wi-Fi networks.
Q: Can I install Snap inside?
A: Whether you're checking in on your pets during the work day or on your restless newborn at mid-night, Snap excels at monitoring indoors. Install Snap wherever you need it most.
Q: Can I share my Snap video/audio feed with other people?
A: At the moment, Snap is limited to Public Sharing (live streaming). Our team is working hard on Private Sharing and will roll it out as soon as it is stable and secure.
Q: How many bulbs can I have at my house OR How many bulbs I can connect to my account?
A: You are not limited to the number of bulbs you can have on your account. However, the number of bulbs that can be connected to you Wi-Fi network depends on your upload speed. Adding too many bulbs may consume your upload bandwidth and prevent Snap and other important online services from operating effectively. Contact support@sengled.com regarding if you have questions regarding your specific situation.
Q: Do I have to have a cloud account? Or can I use the camera to stream footage through my own cloud service or even safe to a hard drive or SD card?
A: This product has been designed with simplicity and convenience in mind. The reason that we require a cloud account is not strictly for video input/output. The cloud allows you to use two way audio communication, set lighting schedules algorithms, control brightness, and more from a streamlined user interface.
