sol & NOVA LLC is founded by Vern Kittler and Natalie Meiselwitz. Vern has been a tattoo artist for the past 10+ years and is a manager of Greenseed Studios located in Sheboygan. Natalie is currently the sous chef at BoMallies here in Sheboygan. Vern and Natalie decided that creating sol & NOVA together would be a way to combine two worlds into one business. Natalie will provide food and drink service during the day hours of sol & NOVA and Vern will use his years of experience playing music and creating art to make a music venue at night. sol & NOVA will also be a safe haven for artists in our community; we want to offer a place for local artists to come and create or to sell their art/products. We want sol & NOVA to become a local hub for artists, musicians, and any and everyone who enjoys the fine arts.
sol & NOVA LLC is an innovative, artistic, inviting, and safe cafe that turns into an 21+ music-based nightclub located straight in the center of the City of Sheboygan. We plan to entice and quite frankly shock Sheboygan with offering them an experience that is quite unfamiliar and entirely unique to the area. Sheboygan is encompassed with bars and with an entire drinking lifestyle and we plan to break that cycle by supplying something new. Sol” the cafe portion of sol & NOVA will offer alcohol free drinks such as specialty cold brews, coffees, teas, kombucha, and a variety of other drink options. The cafe will include an innovative and modern approach on classic cafe foods, we aim to offer variety while still having an approachable menu. The goal of “sol” is to provide our customers with natural, organic, sustainable, and locally sourced products at an affordable price. We are going to bring an accessibility to organic, local produce that Sheboygan has yet to see from other local cafes and restaurants, all while doing it in an inventive, creative, and ultimately flavorful way. What will truly set sol & NOVA apart from other local hotspots will be the fact that our brand of entertainment will be solely focused on the talent of the musicians we bring in and the ambient environment we tend to create. We aspire to combine two worlds by having “sol” be a relaxed cafe, a very chill environment during the days conducive to business meetings or students studying; then flipping the switch and becoming an 21+ nightclub, “NOVA”, offering live music and an environment that won’t be solely focused on alcohol in order to have a good night. NOVA will provide a nightlife experience to Sheboygan that this city has yet to ever witness. We will have a perfectly tuned and large Personal Audio system equipped with Martin subwoofers, a choreographed visual, lighting, and laser experience in an ambient atmosphere.
What We Need and What You Get
For our project, we are completing a series of large renovations in the space. One of the largest expenses in our budget is the electrical for the building, being an expense around $20,000 alone. We are doing a complete overhaul of the outdoor space, providing ample outdoor seating, really
giving the space the curb appeal that it currently lacks, and updating and securing the property line with a multifunctional barrier wall and outdoor bar top. We aim to create an outdoor space that we can utilize as many months of the year as possible with added outdoor heaters. Outdoor renovations are projected to cost around $7,500. From there, we move into the indoor space. The space inside will be getting a fresh coat of paint and will have a custom built stage that encompasses six Martin Subwoofers. The stage will also be multifunctional, so when it is not a stage, it will hold a display case for various bakery items and pre-packaged foods for patrons on-the-go. The cafe will be equipped with an espresso machine, drip coffee machines and warmers, juicers, ice machine, hot water heater, ect. Projected indoor costs will be around $15,000. The space also has the potential for a kitchen in an adjoining room that will have a cut out/walkway into the main dining space. All projected kitchen equipment and installation costs will be around $25,000. All together our budget for this project will be around $67,500. With that being said, we are reaching out to the community for support and for a contribution into a business that plans to better our city. We want to bring life back to a place that sits on one of the busiest streets filled with small businesses and with a reputation for a nightlife. We want the people in our city to be a part of this project, because we are ultimately doing it for all of you. We are asking for support so we are able to open the best version of sol & NOVA that we can envision; and by contributing, you are helping us open our doors.
