Billy Bungeroth and John Hartman are making a movie.

It’s going to be funny, sad, and so, so dark.  And we promise you’re going to love it.

But first, it needs to be made.

Billy and John feel strongly that the best comedy is bittersweet, tragic, and maybe a little scary.  Well probably real scary.  In both their work on stage and behind the camera, they have gravitated toward comedy with a great deal of pathos and artistic vision.  Both are students of film who have happily been taken in by the Chicago comedy scene, where they have cut their teeth.

They also feel strongly that now is the time to start to making great independent films in the city of Chicago.  They have the tools, the people, and the work ethic. In a city so rife with talent from our legendary comedy theaters and stages, as well as a top-notch film community, it’s amazing that Chicago has yet to become a force to be reckoned with in the film world.

Help us make Something Great the best independent comedy from, by, and featuring the city of Chicago.

Billy Bungeroth is single and ready to mingle. Just look at his resume.  He is currently the resident director of the Second City Mainstage and a Bloodshot recording artist. His two critically acclaimed comedy show's Southside Of Heaven & the Jeff Nominated Absolute Best Friggin' Time of Your Life have earned him a reputation as  "emerging as a significant Chicago talent" by the Chicago Tribune. His collaborations with writing partner John Hartman have both been named Critic's Picks by Time Out Chicago. Billy is currently directing and playing around the country with a new show going up this fall at Washington DC's Woolly Mammoth, and an international music tour. His  film work includes the Chicagoland pilot produced by Kids In The Hall's Scott Thompson.

John Hartman is a writer and actor in Chicago.  He has written and performed two solo shows at The Annoyance Theatre, Your Friends and Enemies and I'm Sorry I Missed You, both of which received Time Out Chicago Critic's Picks, and he has also performed at the TBS Just for Laughs Festival.  He performs improv around Chicago at the iO Theater with the Armando Diaz Theatrical Experience & Hootenanny and Murderers, and at the Apollo Theater with the musical improv powerhouse Baby Wants Candy.  John is an understudy for The Second
City National Touring Company, and also writes for Chicago Live! on WGN Radio with The Second City and the Chicago Tribune.  The short film Little Joy, which he co-wrote and starred in, was an Official Selection in the Los Angeles Shorts Film Festival. Artists turn him on.

What We Need & What You Get

The goal is to make a feature - and that will take lots of support, time and money. So to get the BIG buy-in for the feature we are making a short -- and that why we need this indiegogo funding.

Other Ways You Can Help

You can help by telling friend about this project and letting them know that even the smallest donation will help! you can also help by donating any services you have access to -- know someone who likes to cook ? We'd love help feeding the crew and cast when we shoot the short. Know someone with a truck? We'd love to borrow it for the shoot to haul our equipment. Everything is valuable.
