Space Cats allows you to travel to the edge of the universe, going where no one has ever gone before, exploring new planets, fighting vile creatures, meeting strange and wild galactic animals. Yeah, you read that right! In a faraway future or a distorted past—it doesn’t really matter—animals dominate an entire galaxy, with their eccentric craziness, their cuteness, and their courage. Take your ray-gun weapons, your light swords and fasten your seat belts, for we are about to embark on a journey at warp speed to Animalaxia, where animals rule!

Space Cats is a complete RPG for children, inspired by classic sci-fi movies and shows, like Star Trek, Star Wars, Lost in Space, etc. Space Cats uses a simplified version of Fate Accelerated, published by Evil Hat. Rather than using Fate Dice, Space Cats uses tokens and provides rules of engagement for group work, friendship, and brotherhood.
Space Cats was initially created to raise funds in an attempt to help sick kittens that were abandoned on the streets. With this project, we have been able to donate to NGOs dedicated to animal welfare causes here in Brazil, such as AARG in Gravatá, Pernambuco, and Pata Voluntária in Maceió, Alagoas.
The game is already in English, and I count on the help of some friends to do the initial proofreading. This campaign will help me create the following art-work, edit and pay a professional proofreader to improve the text quality, but I have a particular destination for some of the Money.

I love animals, but I live in a small house in a country town. I'm not part of an NGO or anything, but I have rescued some kittens from the streets and this has sent my bills through the roof. I work as a freelance illustrator and I am now writing for RPG games (especially for Fate).
With this project I intend to pay my increasing bills so that my cats can have food, medication, and visit the vet in the next few months, while I work on the artwork for this book.
Also, as extra goals, I will include values for donations to NGOs that care for animals in Brazil.

Cezar Capacle is an architect, tabletop game designer, musician and overall an inquisitive nerd. He's really into minimalistic games and joined the Space Cats project after an overload of suggestions that meant he was finally granted co-authorship of this project. He's in charge of Not A Giraffe Studio, an independent game design effort with titles published in English, Portuguese and French.

I do all of this because I love it and it's fun. But I hope to help some that cross my path.
When I created Space Cats it was just an idea. I was not planning to open a company. I like to write and draw and things got together especially when I was needing money to save some of my cats. They got sick and the treatment it was expensive.
But things went well. I was able to donate 90% of the profit from the first crowdfunding and since then, 10% of all the projects that I launch. I intend to continue to do so. Let's play some RPG and help those who need it.

There are some costs involved in producing this book. Although Space Cats is an independent book, I need to make sure my cats are okay for the next few months so I can continue to work on my artwork. The Space Cats team is small, so there is a lot of work to be done.
Fábio Silva: I am responsible for the translation, artwork (cover and internal) and editing (layout) of the book.
Cezar Capacle: co-author, game designer, and proofreader.
The book will be produced by Print on Demand, and backers will either receive a PDF or a PDF + Print at Cost Coupon to print the book over DrivethruRPG.

All backers get immediate access to the book's draft text (see the first Update of the campaign). By helping us make this project real, you can receive:

Crowdfunding seems more complicated than buying a book at a bookstore or online store, but actually, it is simpler than you imagine. It also allows creators to strive towards their objective of creating a better quality product.
The risk is minimal because the text is already done and you will all have access to it. And since it’s Print On Demand, there are no risks associated to production. Now, it’s only the artwork that is left to be done.

In addition to contributing, you can share the URL of this campaign on your social networks, talk about the project with your friends, relatives, animal lovers or at the game store in the city where you live. The more people know about it, the more likely we are to be successful and maybe we can make donations if we reach the extras goals.
