“Spearfinger” is a thriller/horror about a young, insecure girl, Jackie, who is desperate to prove herself worthy to her family. But when her great-grandmother disappears on a camping trip, Jackie goes looking for her and encounters a mythological creature that threatens her life. Will she surrender or will she escape?
The creature Spearfinger is from a Cherokee mythological legend about a woman who lures you out into the wood, pierces your heart, and steals your liver. Her story has never been told in a film, short or feature-length, making us the first to do it!
This is a story we have wanted to tell for a long time and we are beyond excited to finally make it happen with your help. Our campaign has been designed to help you understand our vision for the story and get you fired up about the film! Let’s get into it!

Our $2,000 goal is the minimum we need to raise to complete our production! Hitting $2,500 means we can afford to pay for a professional composer to make custom pieces for our movie! Hitting $3,500 means we can afford to properly advertise the film and get it to a bunch of festivals and competitions! Hitting $4,000 means we will have enough contingency and emergency money as well as additional funds to meet any problems we might face. Reaching our final goal will allow us to create this film in the safest and best way possible!

All of our perks that include artwork such as the t-shirts and the posters are student-designed and made! Our team of concept artists and graphic designers spent hours discussing and crafting these wonderful pieces to perfectly fit this film!

Native American folklore has regularly been misinterpreted in entertainment. We wanted to make a modern version of an old tale that is accurate and respectful of its origins. Spearfinger could reignite a new interest in Cherokee folklore and introduce audiences to a new, lesser-known figure in the culture.

Filming in the woods comes with its own challenges. We’ll be away from power so we have to factor in expenses for extra batteries, a generator, and proper amenities for our cast and crew. We’ll also have fire included in the film, so a fire marshall is essential for the safety of the forest. We’re also diligently researching to ensure the film is as accurate as possible to the folklore it’s based on. We’re hoping to contact Cherokee researchers and include their input.
