Spire: Part Two

“Who are you? Why are you here?”

Spire is a science fiction, speculative audio drama by Antimatter Productions, about the fictional, titular city of Spire. Containing surrealist elements, the show takes inspiration from media like Severance, The Truman Show, and Westworld. Spire is part body-swap, part existential romp, and 100% weird. “Something strange is going on in Spire. Following the death of one of the city’s most important figures, it's clear that change is in the air. But when two inhabitants of the city, Malachi and Cosima, find themselves curiously swapping places back and forth, they begin to realise just how insidious Spire really is. And exactly how deep down the rabbit hole goes.”

Told across two parts and twenty-seven episodes, Spire explores autonomy, identity, and exactly what makes a person a person. We genuinely believe the best listening experience is to go in completely blind (and we’re not alone, check out our testimonials further down!) and we urge you to listen to our first part, which is complete in full, if you’re interested in what Spire has to offer!

WHY ARE WE CROWDFUNDING?

With the first season of the show complete – clocking in at 13 episodes and just over 9 hours – we are currently in production for the second (and final) part of Spire.

While we didn’t crowdfund for the first season of the show, having worked with such a brilliant and talented team of creatives, we strongly believe that each and every member of the Spire team, cast and crew, should be compensated for their hard work. Our goal is to finish Spire on a high; with quality production, acting, writing, and design.

Part Two involves an exponential increase in scale for the show. As well as introducing three new cast members, the world and characters explored in the show are expanding nearly twofold. For this reason, we’re asking for your support in ensuring that every single bit of extra work, time, and care gets fairly compensated. 

We are also looking to expand our production capacity. This involves distributor services -- (so that we can provide you with the episodes in a much higher quality) -- DAW fees, more intense and immersive sound assets, and a bunch of fun other things that we don’t want to spoil just yet :)) 

Spire will go ahead, whether or not we make our crowdfunding goal. We are incredibly passionate about this show, and if we find ourselves unable to fairly compensate our cast and crew through the means of this campaign, we will seek out alternative sources of funding. While this means that the show will go ahead, no matter what, this will likely have a significant impact on the release schedule for our second part.

We already have a full first season complete, which has received overall high praise from audiences. In addition to this, Spire is produced by Antimatter Productions, which has previous experience crowdfunding creative projects. You can absolutely trust us to create high-quality material on a funded budget. As a team, outside of Spire’s first season, we have already produced a full-scale crowdfunded theatre production, as well as collectively having worked on numerous audio drama and theatre productions, completing each to a high quality.

We already have a clean timeline for the rest of production for Spire Part Two, including a projected release schedule, which you can see below: 

A more thorough breakdown, including exact release dates and episode titles will be released in after the outcome of our campaign, as our projected timeline depends on the amount that we raise!

OUR BUDGET BREAKDOWN

Our crowdfunding goal is £2,500. We’re looking to be as transparent as we can about what we will be doing with the funds we earn from this campaign. Below you can see a chart (ah, very classic) detailing exactly how we will be breaking down the funds raised;

For our second season of fourteen episodes, our target budget of £2,500 will be split between;

£200 IndieGoGo Fees - As Indiegogo takes a 5% cut, plus an estimated 3% transfer fee, we have accounted for this.

£425 Production Costs - This will go to the upkeep for the show. This involves distribution fees, DAW costs, website fees, as well as access to licensing SFX for the show. This money will also go towards paying individual artists -- such as musicians, graphic designers, and visual artists -- for their work used in the show.

£1325 Cast Payments - The majority of our budget will be going towards paying our cast for their time. We are allocating cast payments based on a mix of line splitting and recording time. This will be split between 15 cast members.

£550 Crew Payments - This will go towards paying crew work. This involves; writing, direction, sound design, and production management. All behind-the-scenes crew work is done in-house.

If we do happen to beat our crowdfunding goal – (which we do not expect, but would be thrilled to see!) – the remaining funds will be added to the current pool for cast payments.

Now onto the fun stuff! We’ve got a wide variety of rewards available for backers, which you can find below. As of right now, all rewards are digital. We do not feel as though we are in the place to provide high-quality physical perks, and would much rather deliver rewards of better quality, even if those things are exclusively virtual. All rewards tiers are added on from the previous tier.
