Spring Meadow: This short film doubles as a pilot episode for a series inspired by the iconic Twilight Zone franchise.
The Genre: We believe the Twilight Zone to be a vast and still largely unexplored realm. Black and white, period, sharply plotted, theatrically leaning, morally invasive, atmospheric, and utterly suspenseful. Spring Meadow is quality original content and will become popular specifically for those who enjoy nostalgic cinema. We have a Lynchian and Lovecraftian, but why not a Twilight Zonian?
Reimagined: While embracing the classic elements, we're finding new stories within the existing framework. We'll be diversifying the cast and crew to open this sandbox up to people who wouldn't originally have had a chance to play in it.
Director's Note: It's been my long-running dream to get my project off the ground that's challenging both creatively as well as technically. I'm Kraig Bryant, a transplant from Seattle to Los Angeles who's built a career of almost 14 years working full-time in the camera department within the film industry. We haven't done anything half-hearted and we don't plan on it. This is our chance to make something big and we want to do it right. What We Need
Up until now, this project has been entirely self-funded. *gasp* We've successfully produced a short film and have incredible footage to show for it.
However, the end of production is simply the beginning of post-production. That means editing the video and sound in a way that's incontestably professional with all the veneer and quality of a studio film.
This costs money to hire the properly qualified professionals to do the job.
But wait! There's more!
After the editing is complete, we need people to see it. That's why the second portion of the money raised will go directly to a film festival circuit. We want to submit to ten relevant film festivals. Our goal is to increase the amount of fans, investors, and purchasers who watch our film.
The Impact
The success of this project has the potential to create something long-lasting and widely impacting. For all the actors who perform in each episode, these could be life-changing roles. For all the crew members who get to work on this series, it means the world to have steady work. For an entire generation who grew up on The Twilight Zone, this means getting to see one of their most cherished shows reimagined with new episodes. Alfred Hitchcock and Rod Serling opened the gates, and we've made replicas, but we haven't dove back in until now.
Risks & Challenges
The market is very saturated. There are a lot of talented inspired filmmakers working hard to bring their visions to light.
This pilot has been entirely self-funded up until now, which we like to think provides us with the nutrient-dense qualities of a home-cooked meal. It's never going to be easy making movies or funding their successes however it's a chance to be a part of something beautiful and to help us in stewarding the reawakening of a beloved realm.
