Using the Weather Dice Set
This set of six 16mm dice can be used to randomly determine weather for your game.
To begin with, pick the die that best fits the climate of your area.
- Black (“Chicago”) - mostly sunny or windy or both.
- Dark blue ("Tierra del Fuego") - cold, no sun.
- Gray (“Seattle") - usually cloudy or rainy.
- Green (“Miami”) - usually sunny.
- Orange (“Austin”) - very changeable.
- Red (“Phoenix”) - usually hot.
Then roll for weather. But if the die lands “cocked” or goes off the table, *weird* weather happens – pick the most different die and roll THAT one instead!
There are eight weather symbols:
![]()
-
Snowflake - Cold. Roll again, and if you get another snowflake it is actually snowing!
-
Lightning - Stormy, with wind and rain. Roll again, and if you get more lightning, it is a *bad* lightning storm.
-
Raindrops - Rain. Roll again, and if you get more rain it’s rain all day.
-
Swirlies - Windy. Roll again to see what goes with the wind. Another “wind” result means *powerful* wind on a clear day.
-
Clouds - A cloudy day. Roll again – if you get a warm result, it’s warm, and if you get a cold or rain result, it’s a bit chilly.
-
Sun - A sunny day. A nice day, perhaps a bit warm.
-
Sun and clouds - Partly cloudy. Probably a very nice day.
-
Sun and thermometer - A really hot day. Roll again, and if you get that result again, you can fry an egg on the sidewalk.

Turning an Idea Into Dice You Can Roll
For the Weather Dice Set, we started with Steve's notes on six different 16mm dice. Inspired by six cities, the dice were at first nothing more than a list of words/descriptions and color suggestions. From there, our production team worked up the designs that we would need to send the project to the resin dice factory.

Inviting You to Participate
Once we confirmed with the factory that these six dice could be manufactured, it was time to move to the next step: Ask the world whether or not it wanted these dice to exist! This is where you come in. If you would like to see these dice move beyond their current stage and into production, please select a reward level (at right) and join us today! Only your support will move the designs from the current stage to manufacturing.
NOTE: All images are mockups that are representative and not the final designs. Part of the manufacturing process includes modifying the designs to better fit the manufacturing needs. If this project succeeds, we will share photos with you as we see factory images and samples come in. The final dice will be as close to the initial concept as we can manage, but there are sure to be variations between the images shown here and the finished dice.
Munchkin Bookmark
All project supporters at the $18 and higher level will receive one copy of The Official Munchkin Bookmark of Catastrophic Climate Change! This new Munchkin promotional bookmark allows you to use the Weather Dice Set in a game of Munchkin to . . . well, you'll have to find out when we ship the project perks in 2021!

BackerKit Pledge Manager
We are using the BackerKit system to collect addresses and manage the project's fulfillment. After the project closes, we will send BackerKit surveys to all project supporters. At that time, we will also issue a survey deadline. As many of you are no doubt thinking, there will be many more add-on options in the BackerKit pledge manager.
