First Studio Album In Four Years!
Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys' new album has been 2 years in the making, and they are finally ready to release their 14th studio album: "Voyageurs". Recorded in Staffland Studios by Chris Stafford, the new album features original compositions along with covers of obscure Cajun/Creole songs from legends such as Dewey Balfa, Boozoo Chavis, Dennis McGee and Isom Fontenot.
"We have poured all of our heart, souls and entire budget into the recording of the project," says Riley. "We now need to press and release the album. We are working with publicity and marketing company Rock, Paper, Scissors on the national release."
"Voyageurs" will be the first album to feature singer, songwriter and Balfa alum Kevin Wimmer on fiddle. Wimmer is one of the most dynamic and respected fiddlers in Cajun music. With this robust lineup, "Voyageurs" promises to be one of The Playboys' finest albums yet.
