WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT

My name is Eyad Hourani and I'm a Palestinan actor (graduated from the Freedom Theatre in Jenin) seeking a Masters of Fine Arts in filmmaking.  I was very lucky to be accepted with a full scholarship from the New York Film Academy (NYFA) in Abu Dhabi.

I am seeking financial aid to cover for my transportation expenses (Amman - Abu Dhabi flight) and living expenses during my school duration.

The education year starts on Sep 2014, for a duration of 9 months.

I would appreciate any sort of help that anyone can offer to make this dream come true.

MY STORY

I am a passionate artist who believes in the power of theatre as a catalyst to create social and political freedom. I began acting at the age of 14, with the"Days for Theatre" Foundation in Hebron, Palestine. At 21, I started taking acting classes at the Freedom Theatre in Jenin and by the age of 24, I graduated from the first class of the Freedom Theatre's Acting School. Most recently, I co-starred in the fiIm, "Omar", which was nominated for Best Foreign Film at the Academy Awards. I have continued to act and teach at theaters and community centers throughout Palestine, with the goal of using theatre to empower and give voice to the voiceless.

IMPACT

Your funding will allow me gain skill and continue to grow as an artist and filmmaker, so that I can create films that illuminate stories I believe need to be heard.

Given this opportunity, I'm willing to focus, network and learn the necessary tools to create films of high quality. I promise to work hard and go beyond what’s required from me as a student in order to achieve my artistic visions.

BUGDET

My initial estimation of needs is $6000. The breakdown is as follows:

-$1000 flight expenses for a round trip between Amman and Abu Dhabi 

-$5000 in living expenses to cover 10 months, predicting that i will need $500 per month.
