Support Kallio Rolling Rainbow - give a fist bump for fair play!
KRR is a flat-track roller derby club that was founded in 2010 by a small group of women who wanted to promote the values of equality, freedom of opinion and norm-criticism both locally and in the field of sport. Now we are a sports club of over a 100 members. Our women's A-team is competing on a high international level but we also have room for people who want to play recreationally or just want to volunteer for the events or non-profit/charity work. Roller derby, in all its bruising beauty, is the best sport to promote the minorities that are represented in traditional sports, like women and HLBTIQ people in particular.
While the roller derby community is expanding globally and the sport gains more and more visibility, we feel that we can actually change the world! We just have to do it step by step and stay true to the sport. You and your business can help us a great deal on the way. Give a fist bump for fair play!
Kallio is traveling to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to attend the Beach Brawl roller derby tournament in 12 - 14 of June. We are one of the four European teams that was selected to play there among the 24 competing teams. The tournament will be streamed live on www.wftda.tv and KRR will blog about our adventures every day from start to finish.
Support our travels, get your message through
Traveling costs. Accommodation costs. Local transportation costs. Those healthy breakfasts and lunches cost (we don't want to go McDonalds).
Flights: 23 ppl x 700 EUR = 16.100 EUR
Accommodation: 23 ppl x 3 nights x 60 EUR = 4.140 EUR
Ground transportation: 23 ppl x 50 EUR = 1.150 EUR
Meals: 23 ppl x 3 days x 40 EUR = 2.760 EUR
TOTAL EXPENSES: 24.150 EUR
All the members of KRR have been raising funds for this trip, even though only 16 skaters, 2 coaches and 5 officials are going. So far we have collected over 10.000 euros by partnerships, merchandise, pop-up events, and short-term contract work.
By donating to our cause, you and/or your business will get your message through in all of our networks and communication channels.
On May 22 KRR will travel to Malmö, Sweden, to play a sanctioned game against our fellow Florida-goers, Crime City Rollers. We will launch a blog then at www.rollingrainbow.com/krravels, and keep the world posted how their favourite rainbowarriors are doing every day, until Sunday the 14th of June, when the tournament is over.
By donating 50 euros or more, you or your business will have a special entry on the blog, describing your thoughts of equal opportunities and fair play: what kind of actions anyone can take towards a more tolerant, supportive and respectful (sports) world. Or you can just send us a good luck fist bump for Florida. We will add a picture/video of your fair play fist bump to the blog post along with your message. We can also provide the photo for you. We can be quite funny sometimes.
The blog and all the new entries will be linked to our Facebook page, our Instagram and Twitter accounts, our website and our sponsors' networks. Your message will reach the total of over 6.000 followers in social media only. We will release also a hashtag #fairplayfistbump which you can use to support our cause even if you don't have the chance to donate financially this time.
KRR withholds the right to edit the text in the message or replace the message with a caption: "XXX support Kallio Rolling Rainbow and give a fist bump to all the athletes out there who fight for fair play in life and sports!" if the content is abusive or discriminating. Same goes with the pictures and videos.
Other ways you can help
Add your own fist bump video or photo to social media, along with a hashtag #fairplayfistbump and your good luck wishes for KRR's tournament in Florida. You might want to follow our travel blog also at www.rollingrainbow.com/krravels. We'll post what's going on with equality and sports right now.
There are also some Finnish equal opportunities campaigns you can take part in, like Urheile ihan homona campaign for the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia & Biphobia, IDAHOT, www.seta.fi. Or you can for example follow the conversation and take part in it at IWG - International Working Group on Women and Sport, www.iwg-gti.org.
