Fairtrade isn’t just about farming -- it improves accountability and working conditions for miners, too! Because our cables contain gold, we're working with Fairtrade to support gold miners in Peru.

Fairtrade gold is sourced exclusively from small-scale mines that meet the Fairtrade Gold Standard: an internationally recognised best-practice indicator for workers’ rights and environmental protection.

Fair pay

Workers in Fairtrade-certified gold mines receive a guaranteed Fairtrade Minimum Price for their product. Buying our cable means you're supporting fair incomes for small-scale miners.

Safety

Small-scale mining is a dangerous occupation which often involves working in small, dark and poorly ventilated tunnels. Fairtrade raises awareness of health and safety risks and ensures proper safety equipment and policies are in place.

All electronics use tin solder to join components. Tin mining is known to fund wars, employ child labour and cause environmental damage, which is why it’s important to care where it comes from.

Responsibly sourced

We source all our solder from a company called Stannol. Stannol, working in collaboration with FairLötet, is committed to supporting social justice by investigating and securing fair and sustainable supply chains and to provide solutions for responsibly made electronics.

Accountability

Stannol and FairLötet are demanding more transparency, better accountability and fairer conditions within the electronics industry. That’s exactly what we are trying to achieve with our charging cable. Only by understanding how and where our products are made can we begin to improve the system.

Partnering with PUR Projet, we’ve committed to donating 5% of our profits to a reforestation and agroforestry project in Peru, a country particularly hit by gold mining in rainforest areas.

PUR Projet works with companies to regenerate ecosystems we all depend on. By empowering local communities to run long-term socio-environmental projects, they help companies strengthen their supply chains through agroforestry, land restoration and sustainable agricultural practices.

Reforestation

The project involves various planting activities including mixed-stand reforestation and agroforestry. By smartly integrating trees into farming systems, we’re helping farmers build resilience to climate change, improve soils and diversify income from sustainably-harvested FSCⓇ-certified timber.

Sustainability

PUR Projet also works to improve local skills by training farmers on agroforestry techniques and sustainable forest management, as well as working on capacity building with cooperatives to support stronger land rights for the farmers they work with.

Originally working together at Fairphone, with a background in sustainability and electronics, we were frustrated by the lack of meaningful improvements being made to essential, everyday electronics. So we decided to be the ones to make a change. We took a deep dive into the core problems and possible solutions, and created a road map for fixing a broken industry.

Hélène Colpin, Claudia Carrillo, Liz Keel, Alice Blomberg, Nuala Keyser, Danique Jaspers, Anna Sørrig and the numerous others for all of the volunteer time, energy and hard work you’ve put in to make this project a reality.

Amazing progress towards fairer and more sustainable supply chains have been made for both food and clothing. However, electronics have a lot of catching up to do. We’ve made a fantastic first step to securing our supply chains, but we still have a long way to go.
