What is Syntax?

Syntax is a sci-fi horror audio drama that launched in late March of 2022 with a wish: for others to hear the story of the Breachers. Syntax relates the ventures of Silas Caldwell, a linguist, who finds himself employed by VINCULA, a biotech company with an unearthly set of artifacts in their possession. Not least among them is the Breach: a large, spiraling tunnel which leads back to its singular entrance... or so it seems. Alongside a team of scientists and explorers called the Breachers, Silas plunges into the world beyond the Breach, and is touched by terrors beyond his wildest dreams.

If you've seen us before, odds are you're one of our listeners, and we are so thrilled to bring you the third season of Syntax! Shortly after Season 2 wrapped in late July of 2023, we amassed over 100,000 listens, and have curated a community in our Discord and across other social media -- we even have a dedicated Minecraft server! Season 2 ended with a bang that quieted into tears, and we cannot wait to show you what we have planned.

Who are we?

The company behind Syntax is Twin Strangers Productions. We are a US based company making audio dramas to delight and terrify audiences around the world. Here is a brief introduction to some of our talented crew!

Stella "Rowan" Odom (They/Them) is our founder, editor, and director. They co-created Syntax with Ty Von, and has also had their work showcased in KILL FM, as well as assisting producers/editors with various audio dramas in 2021-2023.
Ty Von (He/Him) is our impeccable dual-threat, acting as Syntax's writer and voicing as Silas Caldwell. He is the creator, writer, and voice of the Host for Twin Strangers Productions' other show, Cryptid Counselor.  He can also be heard in The Moon Crown, as well as the upcoming season of Tell No Tales . 
Beth Sage Phung (They/Any) continues their role as the brazen Cassius [REDACTED] in Syntax, and has also lent their voice to Cryptid Counselor as the ghost, Melanie.
Morgie Bee (They/Any) voices the eccentric cryptozoologist, Elizabeth Bellanger, and has lent their voice in Cryptid Counselor as the Nephilim, Triz. They have also designed all of our Breach Beast merch on our website, and have made two stickers and the mug for our campaign!
Jules Christine (She/They) voices the adorably chaotic Alyx Yard, and has also starred in Cryptid Counselor as the siren, Sonia Jelly. 
Elgin Smith (He/Him) voices the sarcastic medic, Jeremiah 'J' Woods, and also voiced Mike the Ghost and Vusk the Shapeshifter in Cryptid Counselor.
Kaila Crockett (She/Her) voices the undeniably changed Evelyn Vaux, and played Caddy the dragon in Cryptid Counselor. She has designed the exclusive Alkhan village poster for backers, two stickers for the campaign, and has aided in many of the art and logos around the show!
Renee' Helsel (She/Her) voices the sweet Southern mama, June Dawson, and also appeared as Agatha the Arachne in Cryptid Counselor.
Joe Cliff Thompson (He/Him) continues his role as Steve Beckett, director of Yanus base. He can be heard in several games (most recently the remake of System Shock), audiobooks, and animated shorts. He also voices Dr. Bob in the YouTube SCP series!

We will also have incredible voice actors lending their talents to side characters and extras, so be on the lookout for some folks you may recognize in this upcoming season!

Now comes the more technical side of things! If you're considering supporting our campaign, we want you to know exactly how your funds will be used -- we even have a colorful pie chart to display the percentages!

If we're able to raise our $5,000 goal, we're expecting to launch the third season in late October of 2023, with global release and a live-listen of Episode 28 (S3 premiere) on October 31st -- or, if you're a backer at the 3rd tier or above, October 24th! We've already started behind-the-scenes work to gear up for Season 3, and our cast and crew are incredibly excited for more! As with the previous season, we're aiming for weekly releases of nine episodes averaging an hour long, and having the allocated funds would help us keep that schedule! Cast payments go directly towards our voice actors, and production costs include things like keeping the show on the air with distributor fees, DAW costs, and sound asset costs.  We also have our crew payments, which will include our writer, editor, and director! Lastly, we'll be using some of the percentage to pay for backer rewards and taxes/fees.

If we don't meet our goal, Syntax's third season will still happen, but may suffer with larger breaks between episodes and a slowed production timeline.
