The App
Watch our quick guide to the Taika App below to see how easily you can tailor Taika Ring to your preferences. The app in the video is a functional beta stage app, and will undergo UI improvement before shipments of the rings.
A quick guide on navigating and utilizing the app:
High-End Hardware
Taika Ring presents a new standard in smart ring hardware design. In this chapter, we dive deeper into the design with pictures showing the process from 3D design to a functional prototype.
Traditionally, smart rings have one circuit board inside them for simple design and cost-effective manufacturing. We wanted to get the most out of the space inside Taika Ring. That's why we decided to arrange circuit boards in three dimensions. Our ring boasts 3 different, ultra-slim, fully flexible circuit boards: motherboard, touchpad, and charging board.
With this novel design, most of the ring's surface is a touch sensitive trackpad. The processing chips, sensors, and power management hardware are squeezed underneath the large trackpad.

For adding structural strength and aligning parts inside Taika Ring, we created an intricate Stainless Steel structure. This steel part is 3D printed using Direct Metal Laser Sintering technology, allowing us to rapidly produce the complex geometries needed in the ring. The Stainless Steel part protects sensitive components like the battery.

Despite this stacked design, we have managed to keep the thickness of the ring at 3.0mm. This is thanks to a long and careful development process of choosing the lowest profile chips, finding cutting edge circuit board manufacturers and working together with them to produce boards with thicknesses ranging between 0.1mm and 0.3mm.

For ensuring highest quality and fastest iteration speed with the manufacturing of Taika Rings, we have built the required facilities at our premises. Here, we assemble, mould, and polish each ring by hand with the help of our custom designed jigs, moulds, and tools.
We have been prototyping and improving the manufacturing process for over half a year at this point. The process is now ready for scaling.

Materials and Finishes: A Blend of Luxury and Quality
Taika Ring is crafted with attention to detail, combining premium materials and refined finishes for both style and comfort.
The inner core of the ring is made from durable stainless steel, plated with gold. The gold plating adds a luxurious touch and provides a hypoallergenic surface, ensuring comfort for those with sensitive skin.
The outer part of the ring is moulded with high-quality epoxy, allowing for a variety of attractive finishes and colors. You can choose from pigments like pearl white or space black, with options for shiny or frosted surface finish. Epoxy also offers practical benefits, acting as a protective layer against potential allergens.
By combining the elegance of gold plating with the versatility and protective qualities of epoxy, Taika Ring provides a blend of beauty and functionality.
The final finish options beside the see-through look will be announced after we have selected the best looking and lasting finishes. You can choose your finish at the same time as choosing the ring size.

When You Order Taika Ring
So you've made the decision to get the latest & greatest in wearable tech? No surprise in that.
If you unsure about your ring size, choose 'Sizing Kit' as your ring size. With this choice, the first thing you'll get is the sizing kit of Taika Ring to ensure a perfect fit. As a testament to our commitment to quality, the sizing kits are shipped in our beautiful wooden boxes. Ring sizes range from 9 to 15.
We use the national tree of Finland, Birch, as the material of the sizing kit boxes. The wood is sourced locally, and CNC-machined in a local shop. Made in Finland, from start to finish.
The machining starts after the campaign and shipments of the kits start at the end of August. At the end of the campaign, we will also place the order for PCB manufacturing to ensure fastest lead time for the rings.
Here's a look of the sizing kit:

After you have worn the sizing ring for a day or two, you'll send us your ring size. At this point, you may also choose the finish and colour of your ring.
With your choices known, we will start manufacturing of the rings. Components like assembled PCBs, batteries, and metal parts will be ordered directly to our facilities, where the final assembly will commence.
Over September, we will receive all of the components and materials required for building your Taika Rings. Since we handle the assembly and finishing of the rings by hand, this process will take about a month, depending on the order volume of the Indiegogo campaign.
With all of the previous steps completed, we will start shipments of Taika Ring in October.
Deliveries of the developer model of Taika Ring start in November. The slightly longer delivery time allows us to build the programming adapters. Additionally, the developer model will have a more complex port to allow programming access to the ring's processor.

Who We Are
We are Taika Tech, a close-knit group of tech enthusiasts dedicated to creating magical user experiences in consumer electronics.
Our lifelong passion for tech, science, and creativity has guided us to become contributors in the industry today. Now, we want to make our mark by creating more humane electronics. We work with passion and joy, always with a smile on our face and a twinkle in our eye.
The values guiding our product development are:
- Simplicity
- Programmability
- Privacy
Simplicity, is our foremost value. We believe that using electronics should be easy to learn, quick in daily use, and feel like second nature. Excessive complexity leads to confusion and hassle, making many products impractical for daily life.
Programmability, in its simplest sense, means giving users the power to control how their devices function. Our devices are designed as platforms for customization, allowing users to tailor them to their preferences. This approach ensures that everyone can eventually get exactly what they want.
Programmability is a landmark feature of computers, tablets, phones, and watches. However, no manufacturer has ever built a user-programmable smart ring — until now, because we will.
Privacy is a core value that we are proud to uphold. For us, it's not just a buzzword. Taika Ring emphasizes local functionality over cloud services, enhancing reliability by eliminating the need for an internet connection. This approach ensures your data stays on your devices, making it private by design.
Where Do We Come From
Our story begins on a cozy Friday evening during the Spring of 2021.
There they were, the new Philips Hue lights. Being able to control the brightness and colour of lights felt magical.
But there was a problem. How the lights were controlled. Having to awkwardly pull the phone out of the pockets of your jeans, opening it, navigating to the app, and finding the lights within the app.
This experience was so slow that the features of the lights were left quite unused. There had to be a better way. Hoarding a pile of remotes didn't quite feel like it, nor did talking to voice assistants.
From there, we decided to start building a smart ring for controlling the lights, because it was the most effortless and elegant solution — you'd only have to twist your thumb and that would be it. The ring would always be ready in your finger, it could be used one-handed, and it wouldn't distract you from the moment here and now.
A few months forward, and Taika Tech was established by founders Jaakko and Konsta in June 2021. At first, it took a little time to get the hang of things. We made a lot of mistakes but learned from them together, and slowly and surely the progress started to show.
More people joined our journey, and we received the support of investors. With their help, at early 2023, one and a half years after starting, we had our first smart ring. It wasn't yet ready for the consumer use, so we continued the development.
The world-wide economic situation put us in a difficult situation in the summer of 2023. We couldn't yet sell the ring, and there was hesitation in startup investments, so money was tight and we had few options left but to slim down our operations.
That almost became the end of our story, but with Finnish Sisu, we kept going, dedicated as ever. In the Autumn of 2023, Alp moved from Turkey to Finland, getting to enjoy the contrast of the Turkish and Finnish weathers. With him, we started the work on the commercial version of Taika Ring.
Revigorated, the progress was fast. A lot of testing and development had been done earlier, but there was still a lot to do. Having seen the fruits of our labour and convinced by our grit, new investors joined us early in 2024. With their support, we have been able to continue developing the ring to where it is now. New amazing people strengthened our team with their unique experiences and passions.
Throughout our journey, we have kept true to our values. We have been honest, hard-working, wanting to give back to the world with the opportunity granted to us.
Now, we call you to join our journey.
Together, we can create experiences that not only feel magical to use, but also respect your freedom and privacy to use Taika Ring however you want.
