ABOUT THE PROJECT
TAKE ME HOME is a site-specific live performance project in New York that takes place inside the mobile heart of the city: a taxicab. Transporting three audience members only, from a secret location, the Driver takes you on a radical journey through the city, along streets both familiar and strange. The windows to the cab become eyes to a vast theatrical landscape as the streets of New York transform into an unending performance installation. Integrating live performance, sound, video and street action, TAKE ME HOME offers a captivating, dark and irreverent view of the city through an intimate and innovative theatrical experience.
WHY WE NEED FUNDS TO MAKE IT HAPPEN
This is an ambitious and unique cultural event for the city of New York that will take significant resources to produce. We would love for you to become a part of this theatrical experience by supporting our immensely talented group of performers who will be staged at points around the city, our lighting designer who will be dealing with the intricacies of how light works at different times of the day, our videographer who will be working to transform the experience of watching that usually pesky taxi screen and our stage and production managers who will be stationed on the wintry streets making sure the show runs smoothly.
We seek your generous support to help with the following:
- Cost of renting a cab for every day we have performances!
- Covering insurance and rental of technical equipment
- Publicity and expanding outreach to the community
- Materials to realize ambitious costumes, lighting, and video design
- Creating live-able stipends for our creative artists
HOW TO MAKE AN IMPACT
We need one FINAL PUSH to make this project happen so we can successfully run a workshop of performances this winter and officially open the show at the Incubator's OTHER FORCES FESTIVAL. Our current goal is to raise $5,000 by the time we start our workshop. Please give whatever you can, anything and everything will help us on this journey! If you are an overseas supporter who can't attend the performance, never fear, TAKE ME HOME is being staged during a festival attended by international theatres seeking work to tour, so help to make this show happen so we can take it to your country!
Since this a not-for-profit production and our producer, Lauren Rayner, is a fiscally sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, your contribution will be tax-deductible. Check out all of the perks to see how you can be involved and even get a sneak-peek of the show.
OTHER WAYS YOU CAN HELP
Just because you may not be able to contribute doesn’t mean you lose your chance to help make this project happen!
- Please help us get the word out and make some noise about this campaign!
- Use the Indiegogo share tools to make it super easy.
- Tell people how much you want to see this show come to New York and pass this onto your fancy friends with deep pockets!
