Story.
Talis is a story about oppression and fear, female empowerment over centuries of bigotry. Set in the world of Etrya, a world ruled by Man for centuries, ElfKind has been hunted to near-extinction.
Orphaned as a baby, and raised on a small farm, Half-Elf Elle was hidden from sight. She was taught how to defend herself, as her life wouldn't be an easy one. Today, as a young woman, she fends for herself, trusting no one; until, one day, she is discovered by Bandits. They chase her into the woods, intending to bring her to the Kingdom of Broyhan for execution.
Elle is captured by the bandits; Roland, Kian and Torwyn, and forced to act as their slave until they reach the city. Among their bounty is another captive; a Woodland Nymph, a beautiful spirit of the Guardian Forest.
Together, Elle and the Nymph have to escape the bandits before it's too late for both of them.
Us.
The people behind Talis carry passion with them.
This story is one that comes from Director Georgia Lomax's heart; having been written as a short-form novel five years ago. This story acted as a means of escape for her, breaking out into a world beyond our own.
Through rigorous re-writes, the story known as Talis was created for the screen. Manned by Third Year Film Students, every member of the Crew excels in their respected fields.
Beyond that, this is a story that we all believe in. It's a story of escapism, of trying to forge your way out of the predestined path laid out for you.
"I think that the deeper meaning behind Talis is, as a whole, identity. It is about finding who you are and discovering your purpose and passion in life through reflecting our own world in a fantasy setting. There are other connotations however, including mental health issues and feminism." - Georgia Lomax (Dir).
