I started playing golf when I was 14 years
old. I played in the original New Zealand Foundation Squad in 2007 and 2008. I
was ranked 3 in New Zealand women’s golf to Cecelia Cho and Lydia Ko prior to
my departure in 2009 to play division 1 college golf in Miami at Florida
International University. I then graduated from FIU with a degree in Business
Marketing and a school, course and tournament day score record of 63 (9 under),
which is still unbeaten. This score was the second lowest college golf round
for women in America for the entire season of 2012-2013. In my final year, our
team won the schools first ever conference championship tournament for women’s
golf and I was named in the SunBelt Conference All-Tournament Team and SunBelt Conference Team in 2013. I was also awarded the FIU Athlete Leadership Award in 2011 and 2013. I was captain of this team for the last three of my
four years.
An insight into the professional golf
scene:
The professional women’s golf scene is a
tough dream to enter. There are multiple different tours and breaking through
is the hardest part in a golfers career. To get to play in the elite events of
each tour you must go through a qualifying process, which is costly but
necessary. For the LPGA in the USA, I will go to qualifying school, which begins
August 26th and try progress through to the 2nd Stage in
October. Here I will do the same to get into the final stage, which will be
early December. At the end of all of this a selected amount of players will
receive a full tour card for the LPGA 2015 season. In preparation for those
weeks I will play mini tour events around America and Canada mostly in order to keep my game and mind tournament ready. The funding
will cover this preparation and costs for the year which are extensive, but
necessary to give myself the best shot at making it on tour in my first year as
a professional. Along with this I will also go to qualifying school for the
European to give myself a bigger opportunity to set up myself for the following
year with a substantial amount of events.
Goal:
My ultimate goal with this funding is to get
my full tour card for the LPGA by the end of qualifying school in 2014.
Everything that I am funding for is to achieve this.
What the money will be used for:
All of the money is to go towards tournament
entries, memberships, flights and insurance. These will be the basics of what I
need to begin my dream of getting my LPGA tour card by the end of the year.
Without being able to afford this, there is no chance of being able to even
attempt to get on the tour. Once I have managed to fund this part of my dream,
I will be able to begin to find funding for food, travel and other essentials
needed for my move to America in April. Of course, these are the main financial
areas I need to tackle first, therefore it is the bare minimum of what I will
need.

those interested. I am more than happy to talk with you about these things and
any queries you may have about anything relevant to the game of golf.
Last words:
I’ve watched so many people over the years
that have been limited to a certain life or dream because they weren’t given
the opportunity to do what they truly wanted. So I have set out to achieve what
I dream to do and make sure that doesn’t happen to myself. Beyond golf, I want
to be able to make other peoples dreams come true too. A lot of people have
failed and failed trying to achieve things that many didn’t believe they were
capable of, but for most of those who succeed, it only took one small group of
people to have faith in them. With this, many were given chances and many things
have blossomed into great achievements thanks to this generosity of others.
Whether you are able to financially help or not, every type of support is
GREATLY appreciated. My social networking sites are listed above so please feel
free to follow my journey and me to the LPGA tour and spread the word.
