Welcome To Team Supreme!

I am Joshua Leonard and I'm a 2D frame-by-frame animator.. I love art and storytelling. I've been drawing for over 20 years and animating for 4 years. I have a successful track record in animation including credits with the short film Mila. I am an emphatic advocate of inclusion and diversity which is why I want to create the animated short film "Team Supreme". I truly want to share the a message of openness and acceptance while the audience gains more perspective  on the strengths of all members of our community. Although I have seen cartoon heroes with a special need, I've never seen characters  that are young kids who all have special needs and are portrayed positively and as superheroes.  I researched  and sought out knowledgeable friends and family members to provide me with the marvelous flip side and insights about their special needs children. These children have amazing skills. I was able to feel a story of  the beauty and purpose in the lives of these children that we don't often see. I  thought how  fun it would be to have a cartoon that built around the celebration and  respect for differences  in an animated format for children and adults. Team Supreme  is a story about  adventure resilience, hope, family and fun that needs to be told  this way ,really, for all of us!

I have been both deeply honored and  encouraged by the outpouring of support of Team Supreme.Team Supreme has been featured in  many magazines and media outlets such as  Attn:, Aplus, Be Modern Man 100 Men of Distinction 2018, Mashable, Vibe Magazine, CBS 46, Black Enterprise, AMB Magazine, SundayTimes (Johannesburg, Africa), and VoyageATL. With the help of  our contributors, we will be able to make an industry standard animated film  that is the  new  baseline for how inclusion and diversity is presented to the next generation! I am humbled and grateful to be among those who will stand up this film.

What We Need 

To fly,Team Supreme will need your help securing production costs such as animators, writers, equipment,legal support, licensing costs, voice talent and insurance. You are the secret  weapon that will make these kids soar!

If we are lucky enough to exceed our initial goal of $100,000, we will still need to pursue our STRETCH GOALS of $150,000 which will allow us to secure premier voice talent, offer additional perks, cover submission fees  and travel costs to film festivals, and raise awareness through inclusive pop-ups events for the community and Team Supreme Street Team.

The Impact

There has never been a project developed around this topic in this medium of this creative and social magnitude before.  I know that these bright soaring images are needed and will inspire! Imagine how many lives we will touch by taking Team Supreme to a larger platform. 

Risks & Challenges

The risks and challenges relate to  the time it takes to produce an animated film. We need animators to  join the team and to be able to secure their participation to the end of the project. We need adequate funding to give the project the look and sound that is due to the subject matter and our fans.
