Short Summary
Tears of July is a full-length independent project to be undertaken by Maynard Productions and 2nd Step Films in 2017/2018, and will be produced and directed by Curtis Maynard, a book, blog, and screenplay writer with previous experience in behind the scenes work.
Curtis wanted his first film and solo project to come from a personal place, and took inspiration from a similar experience to tell Robert’s story. The ability to accurately depict the nuances of experiencing great hurt, and healing, is what enables a filmmaker to tell a powerful story, and Curtis has not held back with the writing of this script.
The movie will be made, that much is certain, but as a small company with little capital, the process is slow, and resources limited. Attached to this project is the concept trailer, but with enough funding, we hope to reshape it into something worthy of a film festival.
What We Need & What You Get
Maynard Productions is looking to raise enough funding to cover the core needs of the film, including editing, post production, marketing, and festival submission. Beyond this, any additional funding will go towards color correction, sound design, and other professional aesthetic improvements.

The Impact
Our film is shot in Baldwin County, Alabama, in the Daphne area, and is offering amazing local actors the chance to really show the world what they can do. Tears of July addresses serious topics of grief, depression, and alcoholism, adding to the much-needed body of media that may stimulate discussion and help others seek the help they need.
Risks & Challenges
While this is the director’s first full project, everyone on our team has years of valuable experience to combine to ensure the film’s success. We all have to start somewhere, and Tears of July is a project that is years in the making. We are prepared to be fully transparent with supporters throughout production, offering updates and other information along the way. Lack of resources is the only thing currently holding us back.
