*We can always use more donations! Find our donate button at techtonica.org.*
Let's cut right to the chase:
- There's a high income disparity in San Francisco and many families are being displaced because of new tech talent.
- Struggling family members could transition into tech careers to be able to thrive, but existing tech training is way too expensive and not supportive of underrepresented folks.
You can read more here.
It's not easy for our neighbors in need to bridge the tech skills opportunity gap.
Here's your chance to help #BridgeTheTechGap now. Techtonica offers local, low-income women and non-binary adults free tech training and jobs.
We have organized coding workshops with organizations in the Tenderloin and SoMa, but we need your help to make this into a full-time, more comprehensive program for five students.
Students accepted into the full-time program will receive:
- living and childcare stipends so they can quit their jobs and pay their bills while they learn
- training in software engineering and other skills in high demand in the software industry
- jobs at sponsoring companies ready to build more diverse teams
- ongoing support from Techtonica
Once we get the funding needed to start the full-time program, the funding for the training and stipends will come from companies that sponsor the students.
With Techtonica, underrepresented, underprivileged neighbors win, and so do tech companies. Please donate now.
Together, we can create a positive experience to welcome our neighbors in need into the tech industry.
How Much Does It Cost to Change a Life?
To make the full-time program a reality for five students by January, we need you! Your support for this campaign will help us cover the costs of:
- Organizing 4 one-day workshops with food and childcare — $4,900
- Gaining equipment (hardware, furniture, etc.) — $1,450
- Administrative fees for our fiscal sponsor — 8% of all donations, so ~$2,400
- Course development — $8,750
- Recruiting and vetting of students — $2,500
- Building partnerships and obtaining space — $10,000
- Additional costs we hope to cover beyond our original goal: transportation for students, strollers, carseats, head shots, additional lectures on financial management and other subjects, certifications, conference attendance, etc.
