Tens is a filter sunglasses brand that was imagined by three friends (Kris, Marty and Tom - the three idiots in the video above) on a road trip through the Scottish Highlands. We applied our background in photography and filmmaking to develop a custom filter lens that drenches your world in rich, warm tones. Basically, sunglasses that make everyday life look and feel ten times better.

In 2014, we successfully crowdfunded our original filter lens which many described as “an Instagram filter for real life” right here on Indiegogo, and has since been enjoyed by thousands across the globe! We promised we wouldn’t make another lens filter until we found something special. Well, we might have just done that.
 

Five years on, we’re back to unveil a new visual experience called “Spectachrome” and we’re inviting you - our whole community and beyond - to help bring it to life!
 

Spectachrome is a new and limited edition lens filter inspired by the distinct colour palettes of Wes Anderson films such as “Moonrise Kingdom”, “The Royal Tenenbaums” and “Hotel Chevalier”. Working with a group of optical experts based in Lyon, France for the past 12 months; we’ve developed a lens that delivers a mesmerising colour shift, combining rich emerald greens and accentuated citron tones.  

Experience a view that transports you to a whimsical world of vintage cinema and celluloid film, a place you’ll want to revisit time and time again. At first glance, the lens may appear to look primarily orange but whilst looking through it, it offers a far wider colour spectrum than what initially meets the eye. Wearing Spectachrome feels like walking into a scene of a sun-bleached 1970’s postcard.
 

Our category 2 lens is manufactured in a world-leading lens supplier located in Northern Italy and features full UV400 protection, blocking 100% of harmful rays whilst offering a unique viewing experience.

Our collection is designed in Scotland and developed in France. Each frame is handcrafted to ensure a level of craftsmanship that we're really proud of. They're made from optical grade, plant-based Mazzucchelli acetate which originates from renewable resources such as wood pulp & natural cotton fibres. This means that a) you get a higher quality product and b) the impact on the environment is dramatically lower than regular plastic sunglasses.

We were driving through the Scottish Highlands in search of sunshine when we came up with the idea for Tens. Applying our background in photography & filmmaking we thought it would be cool to take the rich, warm colours we add to our photos and apply them to real life. And so, countless rounds of prototypes and one Indiegogo campaign later, Tens happened.

That was five years ago. Since then, we’ve built our community around adventure, travel and seeing things differently and we’ve been lucky to welcome thousands of people who like the same things. Spectachrome marks a whole new chapter for this little brand of ours and we can’t wait to see where it goes next!
