Short Summary
Greetings fellow Indie-Horror fans, and welcome to the "Terrortory"! How did the concept for this Horror Anthology first come about? Our Special Effects company, Original Sin FX, a local, Baltimore based practical effects company, wanted to create an "FX Reel", which is just a 5 minute film reel meant to showcase some of our talents. After enlisting the help and talents of Night of the Living Dead, Genesis Director and writer, Matt Cloude, writer and co-owner of Original Sin F/X, Mark Wenger felt that this was not only an opportunity for us to show off our talents, but also allow other local independent filmmakers to show their stuff. We decided that "Terrortory" was a film that needed to be made into a Horror Anthology, where other local indie film teams can be allowed full creative control and tell their story, as long as it keeps to the mythology of the "Terrortory" . Our contribution to the anthology, "The Prowler", will be set within the heart of the "Terrortory", deep in the woods of Western Maryland. We brought Dan Doran, of Strike Two Media, on as our DP, to give the film the gritty, old school look that he excels at creating. Terrortory is not a period film set in the 80's, but a nod to some of our favorite horror movies from that genre. As lovers of 80's horror films, and as practical effects artists, we wanted to give our audience something they haven't seen in a long time. We wanted it to feel like the films that scared us as kids, going to the drive-in. We encouraged the other film teams to keep to the same formula of on set practical effects use, and schlock-style horror.
What We Need & What You Get
Our funding needs are relatively small. Our goal for our portion of this film, "The Prowler", is $1250. The larger expenses of a film of this nature are typically built in to the practical effects, but since we are a practical effects company, we are able to save on these large costs. Location fees is another large cost that we were able to avoid by securing a friend's farm, which is perfectly suited for our needs. The costs that we need your help to cover for this film are equipment rentals, prop manufacturing, camp gear for the film, feeding the actors and crew (a necessary evil) and editing costs. We've set up some pretty nice perks to thank you for your kind donations as well which you'll see listed below. Our way of saying "thank you" to you all for helping make our dream of making this film a reality. If we do not reach our goal of $1250, we will use the funds that we do receive (minus the fees indiegogo will charge), to get the film done. We may have to cut some corners, and we may have to drag production out, but we plan on seeing this project through to the end.
The Impact
This project is the brainchild of 4 guys that have a love for 80's schlock horror films. It is made for those same people, as a way to capture the magic of those films of our collective childhoods, and to hopefully bring the same excitement and love of these films to the next generation of horror fans. Your donations are not only contributing to making a film, they are contributing to creating memories for those who love horror films.
Other Ways You Can Help
times are tough. We get that. Some of you would rather use that $5 for a pack of cigarettes, or maybe a beer. We get that too. But that doesn't mean that your duty has to end there. If you believe in this project or if you just love 80's style horror, feel free to share our campaign with friends, family, enemies...hell, anyone who won't cuss you out for sharing it. Put it on your facebook, your twitter, your favorite bookstore's window. We need your help to bring this project to life.
