According to a joint report on global migration released by the United Nations' Department of Economic and Social Affairs, or UN DESA, and the OECD secretariat in 2013, there are about 18.6 million African migrants out of the global total of 232 million migrants.
The emigration rates of highly educated citizens to OECD member countries is a major concern for the developing world.
Africa2Moon is a badly needed project to encourage more scholars into science, to provide a world class project that graduates can work on “at home” and to bring investment, opportunities and skills training to Africa!
"KE NAKO - IT'S TIME"
It's time to show the world what Africa can do!
It's time to inspire the minds and dreams of the "youngest" continent.
It's time to send African ingenuity to the Moon and provide future generations a reminder that we will always be there!

Africa is the world’s second-largest and second-most-populous continent. Its population is the youngest among all the continents; 50% of Africans are 19 years old or younger!
Today Africa is most often thought of as a continent in turmoil!
However, Africa is also very capable and starting to get onto its feet with 7 of the 10 fastest growing economies in the world last year.
Africa is also a continent renowned for the resilience, industry & ingenuity of its people. Alas, this we sometimes forget, no more so then when confronted with the struggles of our continent.
Inspiration is critical for the future of Africa. Inspiration leads to education and in turn education leads to opportunity and economic empowerment.
The #Africa2Moon Mission is being designed to inspire the youth of Africa to believe that “They Can Reach for the Moon”by reaching for the moon! through education & science.
The mission’s primary objective will be to transmit (video) images from the surface of, or in orbit around, the moon, that can then be relayed back and distributed via the internet (#Moon2Africa) into the classrooms in Africa thus inspiring our youth to believe in their own potential.
The mission will also provide a platform for one or more scientific experiments, to be defined by the scientific community. In this way the mission will also contribute to humankind’s knowledge of the moon and form part of Africa’s contribution to global space exploration activities.
The Foundation for Space Development has initiated this exciting endeavour, in collaboration with the supporters below, and has launched a seed-funding campaign drive through its partnership with the UN Foundation’s #GivingTuesday initiative.
We hope to raise a minimum of $150,000 for Phase I of this program.
This preliminary phase will comprise the development of the mission concept and associated feasibility study. This study will be the starting point for the next phase of #Africa2Moon, which will be a detailed mission design.
Phase I is planned to run from Jan to Nov 2015.
We encourage you to be a part of this dream and to support the #Africa2Moon Mission from its inception!
