The Story

500 years ago the immortal words of Henry V coursed over the fields of Agincourt and won the hearts of his people. 100 years ago his legend kept the British spirit alive as the shells of WWI ripped through the fields of Europe. Today we're telling their story.

The Angels of Mons follows a band of WWI BEF soldiers as they battle the Germans, the dark, and their own worst nightmares:

On the eve of the first major offensive of the war, a group of soldiers find themselves separated from the rest of their forces, miles from the front and leagues away from anything they've known before. With whispers of mutiny rustling through the group after the death of their commanding officer,  an unwitting young lieutenant, George Hinkle, is thrust into command.

Ill suited for leadership and crippled by fear, he struggles to keep his men in check and alive amidst myriad dangers, but as the echoes of centuries old combat begin to reverberate around them and the veil between story and reality begins to lift, George is forced to look within to find the strength to become the leader he was born to be.

The Backstory

The Angel of Mons came about when Laura posed the question: What would happen if your campfire stories came to life? Not long after, having teamed up with writer Eric Webb,  the idea had grown into a premise for a full length show. Throw in some Shakespeare (Henry V), and the tale of the Bowmen of Agincourt, and voila, just like that a play is born!

March Forth Productions has been developing The Angels of Mons for just over a year. It’s near and dear to our hearts. It’s been through readings and rewrites, and many, many drafts.  Now it’s time to get it on it’s feet! But we can’t do it alone. We need helpers. We need people willing to lend a hand in bringing this story to life. We need you.

The Details

We’re raising $18,000 to put on a showcase.

In street terms that’s:

  • 3600 gourmet coffees
  • 1800 craft beers
  • 450 tickets to NY Comic Con

In indie theatre terms that’s:

  • 2 weeks in a theater
  • 132 hours of rehearsal space
  • 7  actor’s fees
  • And a whole lot of production value

And it’s only possible with helpers like you!

The Plan

  • Dec - Fund raise, finalize theatre residency application
  • Jan - Rewrites, apply for additional grants, pre-production
  • Feb - Auditions/ Begin rehearsal/Production
  • Mar - Rehearsal/performances

The Players

March Forth Productions -  is a young production company committed to developing and producing works by artists that expand the aesthetic horizon of theatrical and motion picture storytelling. We seek intrepid storytellers who create visceral and thought-provoking tales without concern for convention or boundaries.

We work to ensure these artists have a safe, supportive, and constructive environment for their art, allowing the movers and shakers of  our industry to become the most they can be. Through the cultivation of their art we create stories that challenge audiences and artists alike to question the world in which they live, giving them the impetus to change it for the better. www.marchforthproductions.org
