The Angry Bee and the Bear: a delightful children's book for an educational cause
Separated by 4,555 miles, Helen and Bryony are two friends who've bridged the distance between London and Kathmandu to bring to life their first children's book: The Angry Bee and the Bear.
A beautifully illustrated tale of rural Nepal, the book is a not-for-profit project to fund educational projects in the mountainous district of Ramechhap, Nepal.
More about the book
"Have you seen a bear? He ate all my honey.
It's my quest to do my best to find him".
But where could the bear possibly be?
Suitable for children aged three to seven (and their parents), the bee travels across 32-pages of beautifully illustrated Himalayan countryside. A rumbling rhino, a tremendous tiger, and a whole host of other Nepalese creatures help the bee on her journey to find the elusive ursine. This fun-to-read story brings to life a little-known part of the world in vibrant colour and playful verse, and makes an ideal present for any young nature lover in your life.

More about the educational projects
Ramechhap District was heavily affected by the April 2015 earthquakes and subsequent aftershocks. While the area desperately needed immediate help to rebuild in the aftermath of the tremors, beyond this it's now time to help the community get back on its feet.
With the help of this book, UK charity Keta Keti Foundation will fund desperately needed educational projects in Ramechhap. The programmes we'll support focus on boosting children and young adults' education, a long-term investment which will yield dividends far into the community's future.
This is a cause close to Helen's heart: her husband's work at grassroots level combined with her academic research into Nepalese social protection programmes led to the compelling business case for focusing on supplementary education in Ramechhap. The children and young adults Keta Keti Foundation help educate will bring much needed economic development to the region in years to come, breaking the cycle of poverty.
How you can help and the perks
The book has been written and illustrated pro bono, but we of course still need to cover production costs; with your help, we'll easily exceed the £1,700 to cover the cost of publishing the first edition.
Beyond this, all profits from the book will fund young people's education in Nepal. We may also fund subsequent reprints and a subsequent title in the series to further increase the impact.
For £10, we'll offer you a copy of the book which will arrive in good time for your special someone's Christmas stocking* and for a little bit more, you'll also provide a gift for deserving young people in Nepal.
*Orders which need to arrive by Christmas must be placed before 3pm GMT on the 18th of December. Pre-Christmas delivery is also only available for UK orders.

The impact
If we exceed our target, The Angry Bee and the Bear will make at least £8,500 from its first print-run – funds that go a long way in a developing nation like Nepal.
