I'm an intuitive writer. By intuitive I mean that I'm not planning my stories. They come to me in the form of images. It's like having a film being played up from my inner eye. I follow the unfoldning with great excitement. Not even I, the author, knows how the story will end. It feels as if they are given to me. As if someone wanted me to tell these stories. The Bear Woman and two other stories came to me very suddenly and quickly some years ago. It's making them into physical books that is taking time. Firstly I write in Swedish which is my mother tongue. I tried publishers in Sweden with little success. I then decided to self publish as I could see all the advantages. It would give me the freedom to choose an illustrator and I wouldn't be forced to make any changes against my will. I decided to translate one of the stories to reach more readers and it also made sense as I live in the UK. I believed in the stories from the moment I had written them down and I knew I had to find the right illustrator. Now 4 years later I'm glad I had the patience. I have found a publisher that believes in both The Bear Woman and the illustrator. I think and hope The Bear Woman is a story that will appeal to many ages. It's something universal and mythical about it and I know the illustrator Dorrie Joy will bring my story to life with her magical paintings (www.dorriejoy.co.uk).
The Bear Woman is a story about love. A powerful, dramatic and adventurous narrative of Rion and Loana's possible and impossible love. It is a story that inspires us to never lose hope and to never let go of our dreams, regardless of how inconceivable they may seem. Bear Woman can be read by children from seven years of age and upwards, but is also a tale for grown-ups who have long since lost touch of their enigmatic, dreamy and magical childhood world.
Dorrie Joy will begin painting for The Bear Woman in May. The only thing that remains is funding for the printing and publication costs. So the only risk as I see it is that you wont be able to enjoy this mesmerizing story with illustrations :)
