What’s THE DEEP?!?
It's a lifelike jellyfish -- that's an art car ! She's a glowing, pulsing, bigger-than life jellyfish hooked to bamboo poles and a coral reef on wheels. THE DEEP premiered last year at Burning Man 2015, and this year we're bringing her back in a bolder and more beautiful version.
THE DEEP is our party-to-go, community art and spacemaking project. We're bringing glowing lights, bouncing tentacles, amplified dance music and very serious people together on impromptu dance floor wherever we roam. This year, each of THE DEEP's tentacles will be programmed to light up to music and to hug all who come near!
Most exciting, THE DEEP is the embodiment of our message to learn new skills, engage technology, and make art! Exercise your creativity in all it’s forms, embrace your inner artist, turn off the TV and MAKE something as unique as your and your friends. OUR IMPACT
Our local arts community is growing fast and we need more absurd, oversized, bioluminescent, rough-and-tumble art! Every donation for THE DEEP is a vote of support for our community art and helps us
share big fun with you and the public.
2016 is year two of THE DEEP’s mission to keep our community creating, crafting, learning, collaborating and dancing. Last year our crew brought this project to Black Rock City (2015), Love Burn (2016), and Artomatic (2015).
Now we want THE DEEP to touch a lot more people over the
next year, so we’re reinforcing our Jelly and our cart to bounce through
the night at Black Rock City 2016, and Artomatic, Love Burn, and the D.C. Funk
Parade in 2017.
