Short Summary
Still Small Theatre Troupe was started in late 2012, and has performed a number of original works since that time. Our first play, The Prophet Project, was recognized with the 2013 Making a Difference in Christian Service Award from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary. We're based in Beverly, MA, but tour to pretty much anywhere people want us!
Our shows are not specifically for Christian audiences; they're for anyone who wants to enjoy thought-provoking art. All of our performances are followed by a talkback in which the audience can discuss the show with the cast and crew (and sometimes the author!).
We are currently producing a film adaptation of our original musical Diary of Perpetua. Over 340 million Christians face abuses ranging from job and housing discrimination to rape, imprisonment, and execution solely because of their faith. Many people are unaware of their plight, and many of those suffering are unaware that anyone hears their story. Those who do hear about it are often overwhelmed by the brutality of what goes on.
We aim to inspire the free world to help and learn from these people, and to let those suffering know they are not alone, by producing a film that presents their story in a way that engages rather than overwhelms. We are a grassroots company that is run entirely by volunteers and independent contractors. We don't have deep pockets, but we have deep hearts and a lot of determination to see this project through. We are campaigning for aid in funding our upcoming film, The Diary of Perpetua.
What We Need & Where It’s Going
Our goal is to raise $12,000 dollars for the film with your help! Your donation would be going towards physically producing the film, securing venues, creating costumes and props, marketing, compensating our cast and crew, and providing you with exciting perks. Some of perks for donating include VIP passes, special edition DVDs, T-Shirts signed by the cast, your very own handmade props, and more! We have perks for all donation amounts because every contribution matters, and we are grateful for any amount you are able to donate. The funds generated will be going towards these purposes even if we do not reach our entire goal.
The Impact
When we first performed The Diary of Perpetua as a staged reading with minimal costumes, staging, and a handful of actors, we invited a representative from a large persecution relief organization to share at our post-show discussion. After seeing the show, she told us in tears, “I’ve met persecuted Christians; I’ve heard their stories; I tell their stories… and I’ve never connected with them this deeply before.” Plays, film, and music have a way of reaching our hearts and remaining in our imaginations in ways that news items cannot. Audience and actors alike consistently come away from this show deeply affected, and we can’t wait for God to use this to touch many more lives!
Risks & Challenges
As this is our first major film, we are learning a lot and appreciate your prayers for the logistics of our production process. We ask that you pray for protection against any unforeseen challenges that may arise and for wisdom to move through them!
Other Ways You Can Help
