Summary
When you think of where good pizza comes from, Windsor, Ontario, Canada probably isn't the first place that comes to mind. Windsor's pizza scene has had an underground cult following since its conception in the late 1950's. Unlike the typical North American pizza styles of New York and Chicago, Windsor's pizza hasn't had the recognition it deserves. With this film, I hope to get Windsor on the culinary map!
What better place to start other than the city that created pizza in its entirety, Napoli, Italy! In Naples, we will speak to experienced pizzaioli (pizza makers) to get their take on how pizza evolved through the years, and what a perfect pizza is to them.
This short-subject documentary won't be like your run of the mill streaming site piece. Gone are the loud and obnoxious hosts, and talking head interviews. This film will be heavily visually driven by using new techniques in cinematography by bringing the viewer closer to the action. As well as letting the people behind the pizzas let their voice be heard on what makes their pizza so unique!

Why We Need Your Help
Filmmaking and pizza can be costly. Here's why we need your help:
- In order to achieve the unique style of cinematography in the film, we would need to rent out state of the art gear like drones, cinema lenses, studio lighting, etc.
- Unfortunately, a film crew swimming to Italy isn't ideal. That's why your support will help us get to Napoli to find out how modern day pizza came to be!
- Lastly, we'd like to bring on professional music composers and graphic designers to make the final edit as immersive as possible.

Why Pizza?
The goal of this film is to not only educate and entertain pizza lovers and movie-goers alike, but to shine a light on the underground pizza scene in Windsor. The history of Windsor Pizza goes back over 60 years, and barely gets any recognition outside of the city limits. With this film, it would get people talking about how this small city creates one of North America's best pizzas, and rightfully earn its title of Canada's best pizza!

Luca Cunial is a Director of Photography and editor from Windsor, Ontario. He started his filmmaking career as a high school junior. He has worked on numerous short and feature films throughout his career, as well as working in live events and commercial work. Luca attended the University of Windsor and received a Bachelors degree in Communication, Media, and Film in 2019. He is currently pursing an MFA in Film and Media Arts.
