What's the film about?

Our Voice is our power.  It is our tool to speak up for ourselves, to share ideas and communicate with others. However, voice is only power if you're heard - in such a male-dominated world, we explore the struggles which women face in being heard and asserting authority. Come with us in an entertaining journey which takes us around the past, the present, and what could be the future of the female voice in society.

Who are our contributors?

  • Jeannette Nelson: Head of voice, at The National Theatre, London and voice connoisseur par excellence.
  • Baroness Genista McIntosh: MP at the house of lords
  • Nathalie Fenton: One of the Directors of Hacked-off (campaign for a free and accountable press created in response to the Leveson Inquiry;  Academic and lecturer at Goldsmiths University of London; and overall a badass lady.
  • Gina Mellotte: You may not know her name, but you've most likely heard her voice as Gina is everywhere! On top of a recurring voice in the BBC, BBC radio 1 and Capitol FM, she is also the voice of BT Sport and the BAFTA awards.

What is the money going towards?

  • Festival Entry: We made this documentary for people to watch! so we need your help to help get our voice out there through film festivals. This campaign was built primarily to help us cover the entry fees of the film festivals some of the ones we already have applied for include: the BAFTA-qualifying Aesthetica short film festival; The Berlin Short Film Festival and About Women and Girls: A To the Contrary Film Festival. Others which we plan on applying for include: The London short film festival, The Royal Television Society Student Film Festival, BU festival and Raindance.
  • Printing and Distribution: This is to help us fund the cost of printing the press packs, posters  about the documentary for our degree show and for some of the festivals we will entery.
