With IndeeLift, Fall Recovery is Fast, Safe, Easy
...and no one gets hurt!
The IndeeLift Mission
Our entire purpose for existing is to help people!
Eighty five percent of falls cause no injury. The person on the floor just needs some help getting back up on their feet. However, injuries from attempts to recover from a fall are often serious. Even when there is someone available to assist, fall recovery poses risks for both the fallen and the people who help them...
![]()
Healthcare professionals and emergency responders are routinely injured as the direct result of lifting fallen patients. These injuries often result in lost time from work, hardships for the injured professionals and their families, increased worker’s compensation costs, and even lost careers.
IndeeLift’s Human Floor Lifts (HFLs) offer the most comprehensive, safe, portable and practical solutions for fall recovery of any products available. We have completed the design and testing of our consumer, professional healthcare and emergency services models, are now manufacturing our first units.
You Can Help!
IndeeLift's mission is to improve lives for millions of people with mobility isues, while preventing injuries to the fallen, their friends and family members, healthcare providers and emergency services personnel who assist people every day with fall recovery. If someone you know is at risk of falling, or you know of an organization that would benefit from our products, please feel free to share our product information with them.
And if you don't know of someone currently in need of our products, but want to support our goal of making fall recovery safe and easy while eliminating fall recovery injuries, please know your contributions of any amount will be used to help us get these products to the people who need them ...and will be greatly appreciated!
Together, we can improve lives and safeguard careers while avoiding the pain, suffering and costs associated with fall recovery injuries!
The Problem
We often think of the elderly when we think of people at risk of falling. About one third of the elder population over the age of 65 falls each year, and the risk of falls increases proportionately with age. At 80 years, over half of seniors fall annually. AP recently reported that falls are up 63 percent over the past decade, which experts say is a function of an aging society. As alarming as they are, these statistics fall short of the actual number -- since many incidents are unreported by seniors and unrecognized by family members or caregivers. Those who fall are two to three times more likely to fall again. While falls and fall recovery is clearly a concern for the elderly, the fact is that many conditions result in people having falls.
![]()
Studies show that most falls do not result in injuries, yet a large percentage of uninjured fallers can’t get up without assistance. For many who fall and are unable to get up on their own, the period of time spent immobile often affects their health outcome. Muscle cell breakdown, dehydration, pressure sores, hypothermia, and pneumonia are other complications that may result.
![]()
Falls account for 40% of all nursing home admissions. Of those admitted due to falls, 40% never return to independent living, and 25% die within a year. Getting help immediately after an immobilizing fall improves the outcome considerably and increases the likelihood of a return to independent living.
The “Fear Factor”
Studies also show that people at risk of falling suffer degradation in their quality of life simply as a result of their fear of falling. Up to 50% of people who have fallen report strong feelings of fear, embarrassment, powerlessness, isolation and loss of confidence. The possibility that they will fall again and be stranded on the floor with no one to help them only increases their levels of anxiety. In fact, fear of falling can be as bad psychologically as an actual fall, because the fear is constant. Such feelings of fear often result in self-imposed restriction of activities, thereby increasing the risk of another fall.
The Risk Factor
Additionally, people who assist in fall recoveries, (family members, friends, healthcare professionals, emergency responders, etc.) are also at risk of serious injuries. There are three times more injuries to healthcare workers than workers in other industry segments. Healthcare workers consistently rank among the top occupations with disabling back injuries, often as the direct result of manually lifting residents and patients from the floor after a fall.
![]()
Emergency responders also have a high risk for occupational injury, with approximately 25% of emergency responders reporting at least one work-related injury in the previous six months. Many of these injuries are the result of medical-emergency and lift-assist dispatches, with 62% of pre-hospital back injuries resulting directly from lifting patients! This is a serious problem that results in lost work, increased workers’ compensation costs and even lost careers.

The Solution
Millions of dollars are spent each year teaching people how to prevent falls … yet they still fall. Before the introduction of IndeeLift’s Human Floor Lifts, the available solutions for fall recovery, (such as hoists, sling-lifts, inflatable lifts, mechanical gurneys, etc.) were expensive, cumbersome, complex and impractical. Now, IndeeLift’s Human Floor Lifts offer the most comprehensive, safe, portable, and affordable solutions for fall recovery of any products available!
IndeeLift has developed patent-pending Human Floor Lifts that are rugged, reliable and very easy to operate. IndeeLift’s line of Human Floor Lifts feature models for Home & Business, Professional Healthcare and Emergency Medical Services.

IndeeLift’s models for Home & Business are the size of a typical upright vacuum cleaner and were designed to lift mobility-challenged individuals from the floor in the home, adult communities, assisted living and senior centers. While they can be operated by an assistant, in the home, these models can be self-operated! With an IndeeLift in their home, people at risk of falling no longer need to worry about being stranded on the floor, calling for help, or getting injured from attempts to recover from a fall.
Eliminating the fear factor allows them to live a less stressful and restricted life, while providing peace of mind to their friends and family members! IndeeLift for Home & Business turns what is often an uncomfortable and harrowing experience into a private, non-event! IndeeLift allows people to remain in their homes longer, maintaining their privacy, dignity and independence while preventing lift-relate injuries to those who help them back up!

In a health care setting, IndeeLift HFLs for Professional Healthcare replace cumbersome sling-style lifts, helping residents and patients to get on their feet quickly or to be transferred to a chair, bed or wheelchair. IndeeLift HFLs are a much easier and safer solution than picking people up manually or suspending them in the air. Considering there are three times more injuries to healthcare workers than other industry segments, IndeeLift’s HFLs for Professional Healthcare improve patient care while avoiding the risk of injuries to the care providers and the fallen.
![]()
IndeeLift HFLs for Emergency Medical Services are simple and portable tools for those responding to medical-emergency and lift-assist calls, allowing them to quickly accomplish their mission while eliminating the potential for injury to the fallen, or to the emergency responders. The EMS models feature all-terrain wheels and easily fold to fit on emergency apparatus (e.g., fire trucks, paramedic vans, ambulances, etc.). They are also designed to transport patients through tight spaces, hallways and around corners. They also can be used as a field chair for extended triage and/or recovery, and even serve as a dolly for the emergency responders' EMT equipment!
![]()
All IndeeLift HFLs feature small footprints for tight spaces, rugged wheels for dependable transport, long lasting rechargeable batteries for repeated use, and powder-coated finishes for easy cleaning and decontamination. IndeeLift HFL's are designed and built in Livermore California, U.S.A. with components engineered for safety, reliability and durability.
With IndeeLift HFLs for Home & Business, Professional Healthcare and Emergency Medical Services, millions of people lives will be changed for the better! How Do Human Floor Lifts Work?
Overview:
IndeeLift HFL’s are designed to be the "People Picker Upper"! Whether age, disability, a medical condition or an accident has left one unable to get up from the floor, IndeeLift is the answer to easily and safely getting back up. IndeeLift maintains the safety and dignity of the one who has fallen, while preventing injuries to the friends, family members, and professionals who assist them back up after a fall.
How they work:
The patent-pending IndeeLift HFLs are portable devices that can be rolled around on wheels like a traditional dolly. The beveled seat access and wired remote control were designed to easily lift a person to a sitting position, where they can stand and walk away, or be transferred to another transport mechanism. Utilizing rechargeable lithium-ion batteries and linear actuator control mechanisms that lift the seat to a height of 21 inches from the ground, they easily facilitate lift-free transfers to wheelchairs or gurneys, if desired.
![]()
IndeeLift HFLs are designed to meet the specifications and requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Their small footprint allows them to be positioned in many places other lifts simply cannot go. With a small turning radius, IndeeLift HFLs can go just about anywhere -- including all ADA accessible bathrooms.
The physically disabled, injured veterans, victims of accidents, and victims of many muscular debilitating diseases who are prone to falling with limited strength and the inability to get up, now have a safe and effective solution for getting back up … without getting injured!
For Home & Business
![]()
In the home, the HFL-300 and HFL-400 allow for self or assist-operation, to lift mobility challenged individuals from the floor. They provide the same features, functions and operational characteristics with the exception of rated capacity. The HFL-300 is engineered to lift a person of up to 300 pounds and the HFL-400 is engineered to lift a person weighing up to 400 pounds.
![]()
After a fall, a person can easily be raised without the risk of injury to themselves or any helpers, by simply scooting over to the HFL and sliding onto the beveled seat. With the simple push of a button on the wired remote, the fallen is quickly and safely raised from the floor in a seated position -- where they can relax, catch their breath, then stand up (as they would from any chair) or scoot onto a wheelchair, if desired.
![]()
Being able to stay in your own home is freedom. IndeeLift provides freedom from fear of falling and not being able to get up … so you can live your life more fully!
For businesses, (such as hospice facilities, senior living housing, senior centers, and mobile caregivers), the HFL-300 and HFL-400 allow the caregivers to easily and safely recover fallen residents from the floor. The assistant simply wheels the HFL to the fallen person, assists them onto the beveled seat then presses the up button on the wired remote. In just 60 seconds, the fallen person is smoothly and gently raised from the floor in a seated position, where the assistant can help them to stand up from the seat and walk away, or scoot onto a wheelchair, (if needed).

For Professional Healthcare
The HFL-400-P and HFL-550-P are designed to assist mobility-challenged individuals in a healthcare setting to get up from the floor after a fall. The HFL-400-P is designed for both home and professional applications and has a rated capacity of 400 pounds. The HFL-550-P is designed specifically to serve the professional healthcare community and has a rated capacity of 550 pounds.
![]()
Both professional models are manufactured with medically certified controls, batteries, and linear actuators that meet the rigorous standards of the American medical community. In a hospital, skilled nursing or assisted living facility, the healthcare professional assists the fallen onto the beveled seat, presses the “up” button on the wired remote, and the fallen is raised to a height of 21 inches where they can rest and relax, then rise to a standing position. Alternately, the removable rise assist handles make it easy to transfer the fallen to a wheelchair or bed, if desired.
There are three times more injuries to healthcare workers than to workers in other industries, such as construction, mining, and manufacturing. "The cost of filling out the paperwork for a single worker’s compensation claim is more than the cost of an IndeeLift." -- VP, Risk Mgmt - National Assisted Living Corporation.
The healthcare professional simply wheels the HFL to the fallen resident or patient, assists them onto the beveled seat, then presses the up button on the wired remote. In just 60 seconds, the fallen person is smoothly and gently raised from the floor in a seated position, where the healthcare professional can help them to stand up from the seat and walk away, or scoot onto a wheelchair, (if needed). In most cases, only one healthcare worker is needed when using the HFL to recover a fallen patient or resident from the floor – eliminating the need to assemble a lift-team, (also reducing the time that a fallen person is stranded on the floor).

With IndeeLift, healthcare workers no longer need to suffer from strains and injuries related to fall recoveries, lost time from work, or lost careers!

For Emergency Medical Services

IndeeLift’s HFL-500-E and HFL-550-E are industrial grade tools designed for emergency responders. These tools were developed to safely lift and transport patients. Both models have the same features and functions with the exception of rated capacity. The new HFL-500-E is the smaller and lighter weight model for ambulances and smaller apparatus. Weighing in at only 50 pounds, it easily lifts and transports a person weighing up to 500 pounds! The HFL-550-E is the bariatric “heavy lifter” for larger apparatus and is engineered to lift and transport a person of up to 550 pounds.
![]()
IndeeLift HFLs for EMS quickly and safely lift a patient from the floor, seated or on a backboard, without causing injury to either the emergency services personnel or the patient. As a fall recovery appliance, the HFLs are extremely maneuverable. The small footprint allows fall recovery to occur in much smaller spaces than other mechanical lift devices.
These tools eliminate manual lifting of patients from the floor on medical-emergency and lift-assist calls. Additionally, the emergency services models were also designed for patient transport, through tight spaces including hallways … even around corners!
![]()
The emergency responders arrive at the scene, unfold and deploy the HFL, load their equipment on the HFL’s seat and, using it as dolly, they proceed to the location of the fallen patient. They assist the patient onto the beveled seat, press the up button, and the fallen patient is safely and efficiently recovered to a seated position where first aid can be administered (if needed). Once the patient has caught their breath and had a chance to relax, they can either stand right up and walk away, (as they would from any chair), be transferred to a seat in their home or a wheelchair if desired, or can be transferred to a gurney if needed.
![]()
With an average of 40% of fire department truck rolls involving lift-assist calls, IndeeLift provides an invaluable tool to emergency responders everywhere.
The HFL-500-E and HFL-550-E were also designed to fold for stowing and transport on emergency services apparatus (such as fire trucks, ambulances and paramedic vans).
![]()
With heavy duty construction, (including rugged, all terrain wheels), waist and chest belt assemblies for additional safety, and rechargeable lithium-ion battery packs, these revolutionary emergency responder tools are designed to provide years of reliable and maintenance-free performance in the field.
The optional “IndeeChuck” Patient Maneuvering Tool makes it easy to retrieve a fallen patient from an inaccessible area and move them to an accessible area, where they can easily be lifted using the HFL. Typically, only two emergency responders are required when using this tool … even for the largest of patients!
![]()
The IndeeLift HFLs for EMS were designed to allow emergency responders to easily transport patients secured to the HFL on level ground. The optional Stair Handles and Stair Track accessories quickly assemble and deploy when needed, allowing emergency responders the additional flexibility of maneuvering patients already secured to the HFL, up and down stairs or through uneven terrain or obstructions.
![]()
These optional accessories work well with both models (HFL-500-E / HFL-550-E).

Steve Powell: Founder and Inventor of IndeeLift
The Origin of IndeeLift as Told by Steve Powell
IndeeLift was founded to help solve a real problem. Many people fall and are unable to get up from the floor. My story is not unlike millions of others in every generation and every day. Pictured below is my dad, Everett Powell. The last couple of years of his life were pretty tough. He fell many times and it became a major ordeal to get him up from the floor. This problem serendipitously led me to develop a solution to address his problem. The Human Floor Lift can help others who fall and are unable to get up from the floor without assistance.
![]()
Everett Powell: The inspiration for IndeeLift
As a devoted participant in the care of my elderly parents, I've had the opportunity to experience many of the difficulties that come along with aging. My parents, who lived apart, were an important part of my life and consequently I was involved in the physical and medical day-to-day challenges of aging in place.
My father was falling multiple times a week and exhausting his caregiver. My mother lived alone and when she fell, she was stuck for hours until someone could come and help. I needed a solution that would specifically pick people up from the floor. I looked at all of the human lifting and transferring equipment that I could find, looking for something I could modify. Nothing existed! I accepted the challenge and began designing a device that would help my parents and others like them. Beginning in January, 2014, I built the first test models and, after a half a dozen tries, I had a working model!
Unfortunately, my father died before I could make a working lift for him. I wasn’t able to help him personally with the Human Floor Lift, so I have made it my mission to help as many people as possible all over the world to safely get up from the floor while avoiding injuries to professional healthcare workers, emergency responders, and all people who help others with fall recovery!
The Cost of Falls and Fall Recovery
There can be no doubt that falls, fall recovery (and even the fear of falling) takes a huge toll on those who fall and can’t get up, as well as those who care for -- and about -- them. But there are also hard dollar costs associated with falls and fall recovery. By getting our IndeeLift products into the hands of healthcare organizations and emergency services personnel, we can significantly reduce these costs (for both the public and private sectors).
Reviewing the statistics, it’s easy to see that the costs of injuries and lost work for healthcare workers and emergency service personnel are simply staggering…
Healthcare Professionals:
- Healthcare workers consistently rank among top occupations with disabling back injuries, primarily from manually lifting patients.
- Injuries to the healthcare professionals equal $20 Billion per year.
- Depending on the source or study, back strains have a direct cost of approximately $18,000 per incident. This does not include the Over Time cost to replace the injured shifts.
- Rates of musculoskeletal injuries from overexertion in healthcare occupations are among the highest of all U.S. industries. The single greatest risk factor for overexertion injuries in healthcare workers is the manual lifting, moving and re-positioning of patients.
![]()
In 2010, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, nursing and residential care facilities experienced one of the highest rates of lost workdays due to injuries and illnesses of all major American industries.
EMS Personnel:
- EMS providers have a high risk for occupational injury, with approximately 25 % of workers reporting at least one work-related injury in the previous six months. Many of these injuries were the result of falls or lifting patients (Heick, 2009)
- 62% of pre-hospital back injuries to EMS personnel are from lifting patients, with 10% of the workforce out on injury at any given time.
- Approximately 27,000 EMS workers are injured annually across the nation, 21% of these injuries are low back related.
- Data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) show that in 2011, the injury rate for ambulance workers was over six times the average (238 per 10,000).
- 23.8% of all permanent EMS disability claims are back related.
- The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) reported that approximately 81,000 firefighters in the United States were injured during 2002 at a cost of $3–8 billion. Back injuries represent the vast majority of these injuries.
- Lower back injuries are the most common reason for early retirements from the fire service.

The IndeeLift Crowdfunding Campaign
IndeeLift has completed the design of our consumer, professional and emergency services models. We are now manufacturing our first consumer, professional and emergency services models. We also have additional game-changing products on the drawing board!
IndeeLift is a C corporation, established on May 6th, 2014. The limited friends and family funding we’ve received has brought us to where we are today. All the funding has been spent on product development and the contracting of our manufacturing, call center operations, and the delivery of our initial products. We are now ready to “ramp-it-up”! Therefore, the purpose of this Crowdfunding Campaign is to raise the additional funding needed to secure supply lines, fund production, establish the distribution channel, and educate the market.
Any additional funding that exceeds our goal will allow us to get our existing products into the hands of those who will directly benefit from them: the fallen, their friends, families and caregivers, along with our heroic emergency services personnel. In brief: The more funding we receive, the sooner we can get our products to those who need them the most. We are all about helping people!
Please know that your contributions to this campaign, (of any amount), will help us to achieve our mission of improving the lives of millions of people, while helping to prevent injuries to the fallen, their friends and family members, healthcare providers and emergency services personnel involved in assisting people with fall recovery.

It will be the BEST contribution you'll ever make to help people who are at risk of falling and not being able to get back up safely, while also avoiding injuries to those who help them! Your contribution will not only help to improve lives for millions of people, but will also reduce the costs associated with lost work, additional staff, and lost careers for the many professionals who assist with fall recovery every day!!!

Order Fulfillment
IndeeLift has been established as a virtual company. A contract manufacturer builds and ships all products, a contracted call contractor manages all inbound communications and a marketing/communications contractor provides publicity and advertising services.
Our e-commerce infrastructure was designed to support order streams from each sales channel, with work flowing directly to the manufacturer, driving the build and shipping schedules. Inventory availability drives invoicing and funds capture before the products leave the factory.
All IndeeLift products purchased via the perks in this campaign are pre-orders and are estimated to be available for shipping by the date listed in each perk's "Estimated" time-frame. We will do our best to meet (or beat) those estimated shipping dates and will keep each contributor informed of the actual shipping dates for the specific product they pre-ordered.
The IndeeLift Business Philosophy
Capitalism is the greatest economic system on the planet. The goal of profit is reasonable and required to generate the investment and innovation necessary to continue the forward movement of society. The one thing that capitalism often lacks is a service motive. Coupling of the conscious effort to uplift the quality of life for some segment of society (through the delivery of well-built and fairly priced products to those who can afford them, along with the concerted effort to provide such products to those who cannot), is the perfect marriage of profit and service motives.
IndeeLift will expend substantial resource on matching those in need with those who can help … while continuing to pursue fair profit from those who are capable of paying fairly for IndeeLift products.
Risks and Challenges
Unlike many Crowdfunding Campaigns, IndeeLift already has three fully developed product lines! They are not just ideas and blueprints. Their design and manufacturing challenges have already been addressed and overcome. Therefore, we've eliminated the vast majority of the risks!
At this point, the only two risks we anticipate are:
- Disreputable companies trying to reproduce our product designs regardless of our USPTO Provisional Patent status (which we are well positioned to address, if necessary).
- Keeping up with the high demand for our products, once the word gets out!
Certified Components
All IndeeLift Human Floor Lifts are built in the U.S.A. with components specifically certified by UL and Intertek for use as general medical equipment / medical electrical equipment and meet all general requirements for basic safety and essential performance. The full certifications are published in our IndeeLift Human Floor Lift User Guides.

Summary
There is no other product on the market that even comes close to the effectiveness, convenience, portability and safety of IndeeLift’s Human Floor Lifts.
