What is The Girl in Red?
When A lonely young man finally catches a break with someone he met online. only to find that she and her family are not who they seem to be. This proof of concept short is directed and written by Vinay George but also with the help of other NYC talented creatives.
In today's interconnected world, we all possess the capacity to give and receive love. However, the pervasive influence of the internet has made it effortless to concentrate our affection solely on one person, only to realize later that they are not who they appeared to be.
The story follows the main character Ben, who is very anxious and timid and quite nervous about meeting his online date in real life and the twists and turns that he will face in the journey.

The theme underlying my script revolves around the concept of love. In today's interconnected world, we all possess the capacity to give and receive love. However, the pervasive influence of the internet has made it effortless to concentrate our affection solely on one person, only to realize later that they are not who they appeared to be.
With my script, I aim to shed light on the realm of online dating, particularly its inherent dangers. Having personally experienced the harrowing consequences of engaging in this digital landscape, I was motivated to write this story after being deeply moved by several films and yearning to share my own experiences. My ultimate aspiration is for this narrative to resonate with others, serving as a cautionary tale and an empathetic exploration of the perils lurking within the world of online relationships.

What We Need & What You Get
Films are a huge investment in both time and money. The amount raised from this campaign goes right back into the production and also the people who are making this film possible. While we love collaborating with our friends and other creatives who create just for the passion of it, we understand that each person who works in this industry deserves payment for their skills and time. If we all could be paid for doing what we love to do instead of just what we need to do, wouldn’t there be more happy people?
Every dollar you contribute goes straight to the production and development of the film:
Transportation & Travel
Cameras and lenses
Lighting & Grip Equipment
Cast & Crew Members
Locations
Meals
Production Design
Costume
Sound Design & Mix / Music
Film Festival Submissions.
Keep in mind that by contributing to this film, you also encourage more people of color to be creators and not only be in front of the camera but take positions of power behind it as well. So be the reason someone believes in themselves!
The Impact
This project has been filled with a team of people from all different backgrounds and life experiences who have dreams of making a living working in the entertainment industry. As much as we all enjoy creating films we understand the reality of working as artists. It’s an incredibly difficult industry to make a consistent living in if you’re not in the top 1%. We all live to create and many times, many of us have taken on free projects just to be able to live out our passions and have the exposure necessary in order to build toward paid work.
Film and art are our passion, and we want to uplift more young people of color like ourselves to be bold about putting their faces on screen and trusting that their experiences are worth being shared-something that feels all too rare in the film industry.
As young independent artists, it is difficult to pay for everything and everyone who helps create with you and we understand that professionals in their field deserve to be compensated. No one expects doctors or engineers to work for free because people need them so why do we feel entitled to free art knowing the world needs both its beauty and perspective?
There are various moving pieces when it comes to making films. Stressing over monetary needs while creating often negatively impacts the quality of the art as well as the creators' ability to commit their time to their passion.
Every artist on this team has had their own successes and by contributing to this project you will be planting a seed in their future success. The Girl In Red is a project for this team and its success goes beyond just ourselves, it goes to our communities!
Risks & Challenges
One of the biggest risks for us so far is the fear of not being able to reach the goal in a given amount of time. There are a lot of moving pieces that need to work cohesively in order to create something great. The biggest is the time frame that is provided for us to finish the film under a tight schedule.
With your help, these challenges will be lessened :)
Other Ways You Can Help
Some people just can't contribute, but that doesn't mean they can't help.
We would really appreciate it if you share this campaign with everyone you know, share it on Instagram stories, and help by sending the link to every person you think could contribute in any way possible. To make this film happen we need help from everyone and sharing this campaign really means a lot to us!
And that's all there is to it.
