Greetings!  This is Big Pauper with BPMC (http://glitchart.com), the world's longest running glitch video enterprise.  Please follow BPMC on instagram at @bpmc_glitch for project updates.  Based in Portland, OR (USA) I've been creating radical glitch video tools for artists since 2009.  In 2017 I developed an exploit for HDMI data transmission lines that became the foundation for an HD video effects processor.  Fast forward to 2023 and the HDK-01, as it's known, is a living breathing piece of hardware ready to be manufactured at a moment's notice.  The manufacturing hurtle is significant but with your support the HDK-01 can see it's first production run and land in everyone's hands this fall.  It's a creative tool I believe in and the culmination of my lengthy career in hacking hardware.

In short, what is the HDK-01?

The BPMC HDK-01 is a hardware glitch video fx processor for corrupting HD video signals.  Unlike software based plug-ins the HDK-01 is actually corrupting HDMI data transmission lines in real time to produce an assortment of vivid broken aesthetics.  The HDK-01 is designed for standalone use and integration with HD video mixers (the latter being highly encouraged).  Most any HDMI source & most any HDMI display are supported in resolutions of 720p, 1080i & 1080p.  The HDK-01 is a unique glitch art tool for video artists, graphics designers, photographers & post processing facilities alike.

Contributions to this campaign go towards meeting the manufacturer's minimum to begin a production run.  Upon payment the manufacturer has promised a 1 month production turnaround with another month (give or take a little) for the order to be freighted to BPMC HQ.  Ideally HDK-01 orders will be received 3 months after the manufacturer receives the payment.  Incentive times vary (see incentive details on shipping estimate).  Should the crowdfunder fall short of the 89,000 funding goal I've got a business loan lined up to cover the difference.  That difference needs to be within reason however and a significant shortfall will mean an extension of the crowdfunder timeline (up to thirty extra days).

Reaching this project's funding goal means more than an HDK-01 in your hands.  It sets a chain of events in motion that help BPMC level up in a big way.  This is the first of many conceived larger projects from me.  With a more stable financial footing and a good working relationship with my manufacturer I hope to bring a radical swath of new creative glitch tools to the people.  Not enough people seemed to get this shit in the 2000s & the 2010s.  But it's 2023 and I feel like the moment is right for new creative tools that reflect the modern cultural landscape.. and spit it back in it's facking face.  Supporting this crowdfunder means more radical new glitch art tools, plain and simple.
