Background and History

We are Kaytee Pet Security, a newly incorporated business with the mission to solve pet theft.

We recognised that having a pet is extremely rewarding, however, looking after pets and keeping them safe can be challenging, requiring a lot of care and attention. 

Of all pets, dogs are the most popular with almost 471 million dogs kept as a pet across the globe. Looking after a dog is a full-time commitment and they most certainly become one of the family and for all the care and attention you give them, in return, they give you endless love. As a result of this bond, most people will want the best diet, toys, medical care and facilities for their pets.

Over the past few years, we have seen more articles in the news and even more posts online searching for missing pets, primarily dogs and to a lesser extent, cats, with many owners offering cash rewards for their pets to be safely returned. An example of a news article can be found here: -

We often put ourselves in their shoes as we are dog owners and it unthinkable to imagine a situation where our dogs were missing with the possibility of never seeing them again.

As a result, we have designed a safety product which we believe will significantly reduce the risk of pets going missing and not being found.

The figures surrounding dog theft are staggering and the failure to resolve these crimes is shockingly low.

In short, 98 per cent of dog theft criminals are never charged, and also in half of those cases, a suspect is never identified. On average, 230 cases of dog theft occurred every month in the UK (2021).

These figures are at a seven-year high and with the rise in the cost of dogs, some of which can cost £3,000, now is the time to act and protect them from criminals. 

New research from Direct Line Pet Insurance1 revealed an estimated 2,290 dogs were reported stolen across the UK in 2023, the equivalent of six per day. The number of dogs stolen increased by six per cent compared to the 2,160 dogs reported stolen in 2022.

Following on from these statistics, we have decided to create something unique to tackle this problem.

With the advancement of technology, demand for specialized gadgets for pets has increased. Many devices are available in this market for dogs, but they have limited functions and features, they are also not satisfying customers, because owners do not want to burden their pets with many devices. Traditional methods of identification, such as tags and microchips, are not always effective in preventing pet theft or aiding in recovery. Pet owners need a reliable and proactive solution to safeguard their pets and ensure their safety.

Personally I lost a dog and know what it’s like to worry and blame yourself for it. My dog literally just run out the side gate and run to the field next door never to be found….this was heartbreaking beyond belief. 

To solve this problem and fill a gap in the market we have designed the Kaytee pet harness, a specialized device for pets which has many functions that are beneficial for pets and owners.

Product Description:

Our device is a specifically designed safety harness which has multiple features that will protect pets and facilitate owners to take care of their pets with more ease. We will offer our clients two options on the harness to make it more affordable, with or without the anti-cut straps.

With either option, the camera and microphone will record all activity and send it to the cloud and owners’ phone.

The mobile phone application can be downloaded on to an iPhone or android and will have the following features: -

The functionality to keep a track of your dog 24 hours a day from anywhere.

Control the camera on the harness.

Control the torch on the harness.

Take a photo using the phone application.

Upload a photo or video to the application or cloud.

Detect a face (face detector/recognition).

Find the location of the pet.

Use the alarm system that causes the device to sound in the case of a lost dog.

Use multi collar option (multiple collars can be added to the app).

Multi users’ option (multiple users like family can have access to the pet).
