Did you know that Massachusetts still has not exonerated everyone that was convicted of witchcraft during the 1692 Salem Witch Trials? Join us as we follow a middle school class from North Andover, Massachusetts partner with Senator Diana DiZoglio in their efforts to set Elizabeth Johnson, Jr free. This is the documentary that is 330 years in the making! And we are in production NOW!

Elizabeth Johnson Jr has still not been cleared of the crime of witchcraft, a crime punishable by death and considered worse than treason for which she was convicted about 330 years ago.
Can’t believe it? Neither could we, but when we saw the story about how an incredible group of 8th grade students in North Andover Massachusetts had researched Elizabeth’s case and persuaded Massachusetts Senator Diana DiZoglio to fight for Elizabeth’s cause, we knew we had to make a documentary about it. THE LAST WITCH is an incredible story about a 20-something girl who was a little different and who confessed to being a detestable witch on August 11, 1692. Elizabeth was thrown in jail where she remained until January, 1693, when she was finally convicted for her crimes. That came after her granddad, the elder reverend in town, Rev. Francis Dane, had called her “simplish.” We have no idea what that means or meant, but Elizabeth was sentenced to hang. Lucky for her, Governor Phelps had started to put a stop to the hysteria and pardoned the convicted witches. Now, keep in mind, “pardon” does not mean “innocent.” In fact, people continued to be accused and like others who were convicted of witchcraft, Elizabeth was alive but considered “dead” to the state. Yikes! What does that even mean?
Okay, so there’s much more to her story, but a big question is why all the other supposed witches have been cleared of their crimes against humanity so far, but not Elizabeth? Why was she forgotten? And even more interesting, once the 8th grade students and Senator DiZoglio pointed out the omission, why is Elizabeth still convicted as a witch?

Fortunately, we have had a couple of angel donors who have covered some of the larger items, but we still have a long way to go to cover the recent three-day shoot in North Andover and Salem, Massachusetts.
We are funding THE LAST WITCH in several phases:
PHASE 1 - Production: Our budget for PHASE 1 is $16,000 (with Indiegogo campaign fees that's a whopping $17,300). This is the phase that we are currently in, that is, we are filming and interviewing the kids, their teacher, Carrie LaPierre, Senator DiZoglio, historians, Elizabeth's relatives, and many other community members to tell the story. Help us cover our production expenses so we can move onto PHASE 2 (post-production) where we will edit a stellar short film begging to be seen. PHASE 1 is the phase that we are currently seeking to fund.
PHASE 2 - Postproduction: Our PHASE 2 covers editing, color correction, music, sound, and everything else that it takes to piece together a short film. Our budget for PHASE 2 is still being dialed in. Once we have reached our PHASE 1 goal, we will immediately kick into PHASE 2. Any money that we raise in PHASE 1 beyond our goal will go directly to PHASE 2, which will be augmented by grants and other gifts. After PHASE 2 we will have a finished short version of THE LAST WITCH that we will be able to share with you!
PHASE 3 - Full length documentary: The material that we have already filmed will be augmented by additional footage which we will capture as things evolve in Elizabeth’s case. Once we have completed PHASE 1 and PHASE 2, we will have the short film to support the next tiers of fundraising and production, with the end goal of a feature length film that captures the journey of North Andover’s Middle School children as they work to exonerate Elizabeth Johnson Jr.
So, WHAT HAPPENS IF WE REACH OUR GOAL? Then all your generous contributions will move us to the next phase of making THE LAST WITCH. So don't fret. We have plenty of uses if we go over. And we will be ever so grateful if we do!!!
