It's Alive!!! (about our Creation)

  • We are a group of various actors, writers, artists, theatre enthusiast. indie film makers, costumers & musicians in the New Orleans area.

  • Upon moving to this Darkly Romantic area to finally discover and delve into the Creole Roots my family had always talked about, I (Lazlo Aluisa) had expected to find (amongst the ever so present & thriving art/entertainment scene) some kind of Late Night Horror Theatre. Local writer Ann Rice had so vividly depicted her "Theatre of the Vampires" in her now classic novel "Interview With the Vampire," that it just seemed natural that there would be something like this. However, to my disappointment, no such or similar outlet existed. Over the years, time and time again, I have heard so many original and vital artists & musicians say that what inspired them was just as much what they were "not" seeing/hearing and so they decided to become  advocates for what they longed for. This resonated  deeply with me. So I took their cue and decide to create such an outlet. Having a love for other genres other than just vampires this is what I came up with as my own contribution.

  • To say that "I" came up with this is a huge understatement. At best this is quite simply a continuation to a long tradition of great and terrible stories going as far back as cave paintings, and that has inspired everything from the earliest campfire stories, mythology, religion, as well as classic and modern works of literature, theatre & film. We (the troupe) only hope that our contributions to these mediums can add something of value. The "I" in that statement is, of course, also overshadowed by my collogues... one of the most fantastic groups of creative individuals that I have ever known . Such individuals are so awe inspiring to me. I am so fortunate & blessed to be working with them and hope that you know, my fellow theatre enthusiast, that it would mean so much to me if you would not only support my efforts but theirs as well.

What We ReallyNeed Help With & What You Get...

  • The beauty of what we are trying to achieve is that SO MUCH OF IT IS ALREADY PAID FOR. A local venue that we are proud to call home (on the Heart of Bourbon Street) is so inspired by what we are putting together that they have vowed to give us the whole third floor of their Creole Townhouse Venue RENT FREE as long as we are producing such entertainment and as long as we contribute the sound system, lights, talent, content, and patrons. They  know that there is nothing else like this that is currently being produced in the region. They feel so confident that this is going to contribute so much to their venue that they are even building the stage for it. However, even though we have their vote of confidence and are so close to fulfilling our end of things, there are some fundamental things that we still need to obtain to get up and running on our end and to add a certain level of quality to it all.

  • We are asking anyone/everyone who is so inspired to donate a minimum of $20 or even more if you can. Smaller donations are, of course, welcome and most appreciated as well for those of you who are in a pinch yet would still like to contribute.

  • Locals (in the New Orleans Area): You will get a set of free tableside seating passes to a show and will be told where they can obtain free general admission passes anytime that you would like to attend a show. You will get links to videos of full captured shows once we shoot them, edit them, and upload them to the web. You will also get a membership to the "Rock Monster Social Club," which is a social club that will keep you informed on cool double feature film screenings, other underground music, art, and theatre events, as well as a card that you can use to eat and drink for major discounts in select local venues (sometimes as much as 50% off).

  • Non-Locals: You will get links to videos of full captured shows once we shoot them, edit them, and upload them to the web. You will also get everything promised to locals if/whenever you visit the area. You will be invited to join the Facebook group of the "Rock Monster Social Club" that will keep you informed on what is going on with the project. If/when you come to town you will also get a temporary membership card that will keep you informed on cool double feature film screenings, other underground music, art, and theatre events to check out while you are here in town and that you can use to eat and drink for major discounts in select local venues while you are here in town.

  • The funds raised will mostly go to technical aspects, sets, costuming, and makeup (the performers will make their pay off of tickets sold and "pass the hat" donations). We have sound and lights taken care of but need to get a laptop and a few tablet computers to control the software that controls the sound and lights. We aim to also obtain a "backline" of musical amps and equipment so that not only will the house band not have to load gear in & out every night but so we can also put on some cool underground music shows on nights where we do not do the theatre. We also have some reusable sets pieces to build, some costumes to make/obtain, and some theatrical and special fx make up to purchase. Any extra or leftover funds will be used to continue to make set pieces, costumes, and obtain makeup.

Risks & Challenges

  • Not many risks because, as previously pointed out, we have a venue that is willing to give the room RENT FREE as long as we are producing. We have a great marketing plan that includes many associate partners that are ready to get on board and help us network it.

  • However, as mentioned, we are still behind on some of the things mentioned above and have a mid-October date that is pressing towards us. So we not only want to nail down all of our production needs but we want to impress upon the venue that we know what we are doing, can handle this, and that their vote of confidence in us is not in vain. So, once again, this is why we are appealing to you, our fellow art & theatre enthusiasts.

Other Ways You Can Help

  • Don't Forget to Rock and to Be Yourself! So little time and so little quality of life that is afforded us in these modern hectic times. You owe it to yourself to breathe, enjoy your friends, loved ones, family, your surroundings and to keep rocking on! Thank you for taking the time to check us out!
