Thank you so much for visiting our page and taking the time to read this. The three of us - Christopher, Brian, and Sandy - are so excited and proud of this project, and invite you to become part of this film. The Luring is about a man who returns to his family vacation home, where a murder took place during his 10th birthday party, hoping to finally resolve a memory gap that has been plaguing him for years.
Written by horror enthusiast Christopher Wells, this psychological thriller is unique due to it’s plot, character development, and subtle foreshadowing.
We, the film-makers, are determined to make the best damn horror film that we possibly can. Further, we strive to not mistake horror for cheap gore but rather have social commentary and intelligence be evident throughout.
We have already filmed the ten minute opening scene of The Luring and on this page, all of you can see the trailer that we have cut from what we have filmed (click here for the full site and trailer - https://www.theluring.com/ ). We would challenge anyone viewing the trailer to state that it seems anything less than Hollywood quality. We can make that challenge because of the pride and hard work we are bringing to this project. None amongst the three of us would accept anything less!
The Luring is a movie crafted through an intricate plot involving scenes that masterfully tell a story. Nothing in The Luring is cliche or predictable. We are true horror fans who want to produce a film that we ourselves want to see. The bottom-line is, this film has been engineered to shock, challenge, move, and scare the viewer in ways that most horror films do not and can not.
We are currently in pre-production to film the remainder of the movie, after having already filmed the opening scene. The rest of the entirety of the movie will be filmed over April and May, 2017.
Your support will help to guarantee that we can complete this film exactly as we have intended to. We are so sure of this films success, that we the filmmakers personally have invested over $40,000, and in addition have raised $65,000 through private investors, who also strongly believe in our vision. But that is not good enough for us. As mentioned, we have every intention of making the horror film that horror-fans have always wanted to see and we want to ensure that no corners are cut.
As with all parts of this project, we have spent considerable time crafting even this page on this site in the hope of earning your interest and raising your desire to help us, while revealing only what is absolutely necessary about The Luring. When the movie is complete, we want you to be able to enjoy it with almost complete interest and surprise. With all of the above stated, we truly hope that you enjoy the trailer for The Luring and become part of our team in helping to back this project in whatever ways that you can.
Update: We just got into the Daily Dead. We're excited.
Christopher Wells - Writer/Director. Coming off the success of his short horror film ‘Cynthia’ with over 525,000 views on YouTube and 2 Best Documentary awards for his feature documentary ‘Romantic Realism, The Art of Roderick A. Wells,’ he now embarks on his 2nd feature The Luring. Christopher is the owner of Kaleidoscope Pictures, a Brooklyn based production company established in 2003 and has produced work for a variety of clients. However, he is most proud of the videos he’s directed and produced for Candlelighters NYC an organization that helps kids with cancer. Chris likes to direct work that has purpose which is why he also directed a very important video, produced by Sandy Ayesh, that was in direct response to the Orlando shooting.
Brian Berg and Chris share a very similar vision on what makes a horror film great and both of them will be applying their feature film experience and knowledge on The Luring.
When writing the script, Christopher most wanted to scare himself, but to also have the opportunity to direct a film horror fans, like himself, would one day regard as a film-makers film.
Brian Berg - Producer. Brian has written, directed, produced, and starred in the feature film, Exhibit A, which was produced through Brian's production company, HawkeyeMedia. Exhibit A was accepted into and won first place in multiple film festivals.
Also, Brian has written a novel, and finds pleasure in helping to provide guidance to burgeoning creators of art.
Brian and Chris have been friends for some time and greatly enjoy working collaboratively with one another.
Brian, who is also an attorney, helps to ensure that all requirements are met both behind the scenes and in front of the camera to achieve the highest quality production standards.
Sandy Ayesh - Producer. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Sandy was always enthusiastic about Art and Film. She produced and starred in a few projects with award winning director Christopher Wells and is currently producing The Luring with him and his team. She's excited to work on this Film, not only for it's amazing cast and crew, but also because it's not your typical Horror Film. The powerful script has more of a psychological thriller feel to it that is excitingly unpredictable. Sandy is an NYC trained Bellydancer who currently teaches young children the Art of Bellydance. She is also finalizing her first children's book called, Sandy Road, and resides in Queens where she is managing a successful dental practice. The Film world will always be Sandy's greatest passion, and she's excited to bring her insight and hard work in producing The Luring.
While this is most definitely an independent film, we are making a movie that will in no way seem 'independent'. Only the highest quality actors, crew, story-line, editing, music, etc will be accepted and used in this project. Along those lines, we also have retained lawyers, accountants, marketing teams, and all of the other necessary functions required to make and distribute a film. As we have continually stated, this is the horror film that you have always wanted to see. And yes, we know that filmmakers often like to boast and promise the world, but this is the real deal.
Much as the character of John Hammond states in Jurassic Park, 'Spare no expense', we intend to do exactly the same but opposite - watch every expense and produce a movie on a defined budget that looks and feels as if multiples of the actual budget were spent.
Our total budget is $130,000, of which $105,000 has been contributed and/or raised. That leaves $25,000 to go and we hope that you can help us reach that goal!
The budget covers all aspects of making this film - including using SAG actors, the most highly qualified crew we could assemble for this movie, scouting ideal locations, forming an LLC, post production, marketing, insurance, etc. - and we have done everything in our power to make sure that the budget will put the necessary pressure on us, the filmmakers, to be as artistic and imaginative as possible, while also making the most high-quality film possible.
We can further promise that any money raised in excess of $130,000, will go directly to the making of The Luring and will help to ensure its high quality nature, and methods of distribution.
Thank you again and please be sure to see the side panels for the 'thank yous' that we will provide at different levels of contributions.
