IN THE BEGINNING...
...There was a script for an action-comedy short film, and we saw that it was good! So my buddy (STEPHEN REEDY, White, 30s, director) and I (ERIC LIM, Chinese, 30s, moderately hairless) decided to throw down our savings and made THE MAN FROM DEATH. While we had high hopes, this film has far exceeded our expectations so we've decided to turn it into a feature film!
Thanks for dropping by our wee Indiegogo page to check out this project of passion. We hope you can find it in your heart
But before we get into all that, watch the short:

MIND BLOWN?!?
We hope so! This film was three years in the making and to us, it's more than just an action comedy with surreal elements of awesomeness - it's a window into our souls. Sound dramatic? Yeah, we tend to speak in hyperbole, but it's all true. After the unexpected death of my sister, I had a LOT of stuff churning in me and I needed to let it out. I made a movie to work out my grief called THE FORGE, but then I wanted to make something that celebrated the vibrancy of life! Thus, TMFD was born!

GO BIG OR GO HOME!!
The short premiered at Fantastic Fest and is now a Vimeo Staff Pick. After being contacted by a major genre distributor, I knew it was time to try to make the feature version of the film. So I hired the amazing internet-famous writing team of Justin Giddings and Ryan Welsh (the stars of FearNet/Machinima's BITE ME). Now we have a script, so it's time to rock this mother******.

A READING... HUH? WHY A READING?
Good question. Here's the thing: Hollywood hates making original content unless enough people are talking about it. With adaptations, there's a property you can point to with a built-in audience, and this gets budgets greenlit. But originals are much harder to sell to the muckity-mucks, and so financing is damn near impossible. BUT - if we get the town talking, all of a sudden we're the cool new kids in town that everyone wants to chill with. It's strategery!!
At the advice of our representation and multiple producers, THE MAN FROM DEATH is having a coming out party in the form of a staged reading in Los Angeles, CA. We need your help to secure name talent, rent the space, provide refreshments, pay our actors, and provide materials and scripts to our VIP attendees. We have an A-list guest list of producers, distributors, and other industry professionals and if you help us make this awesome, this movie is getting made!

Oh, and I almost forgot: YOU'RE INVITED, TOO!!! Most of our perks include a ticket to the reading so you can watch the magic happen LIVE! Can't get out to Los Angeles? It's cool - we're going to tape it for all of our backers at the $20 level or higher!

Writer / Director Stephen Reedy is known for mixing psychotically inventive action with simple emotion, often described as “BALLS + HEART.” He’s developed TV shows for Warner Brothers and directed for JJ Abram’s Bad Robot. Accolades include an MTV MOVIE AWARD nomination, being selected by SHOOT! Magazine’s New Director’s Showcase, a feature in Juxtapoz Magazine and a couple Vimeo Staff Picks. His unique knack for crazy spectacle + big ideas puts him at the forefront of the two biggest trends in film today: the martial arts movie renaissance (JOHN WICK) and the philosophical genre film (GET OUT).

I became a filmmaker because genre film fed the formation of my self-identity so much as a kid growing up in Chicago. It let me dream about who I could be and the worlds that I could live in. As I matured I also learned that, even though it wasn’t immediately evident, genre film was a tremendous loud speaker for emotions and narrative expression. I always try my best to put out films like the ones that lit up my world as a kid. I’ve produced and acted in features like DARK ISLAND, and taken projects like SECONDARY EDUCATION and THE MAN FROM DEATH to San Diego Comic Con and Fantastic Fest.![]()
Justin Giddings and Ryan Welsh are two actors who joined forces to become one of the hottest new writing teams in Los Angeles. After meeting on the set of the hit zombie comedy series BITE ME (a Machinima/Lionsgate series with over 60 million views on YouTube alone), the two have since gone on to write and direct the festival-winning film THIS IS NORMAL and the upcoming sci-fi epic OUTPOST. Their production company Giddy Welshmen Productions is now developing their first two features – the thriller DARK WINTER and the Western NO GOOD MEN LEFT ALIVE.

We've spent about $80k of our own money to get the project this far and, straight up, we're tapped out. There is so much goodwill and interested surrounding this project, but we simply can't self-fund the first step of getting this project out there and noticed. We need your help.
And because Hollywood isn't a huge fan of getting behind original content, we need to make a big splash. Think of it this way: Hollywood's a lot like the Pre-Civil War South, and our script is a 16-year old debutante - we need to throw her a Cotillion or she'll never get married and will end up becoming an old dusty spinster with no hope of love.
Look inside your heart; help our script get married to a racist Confederate Civil War ghost. Er... make a movie.
You know what we mean.
