Short Summary
A few months ago, we (Denise and Rod Bigner) were thinking about how much we would love to operate a place were people could come together and experience the magic of movies as a community. We didn’t have much money but we sold our home in Orange County, California, put a down payment on a single-screen theater the heart of Historic Downtown Albany, Oregon and moved our family of four a thousand miles away.
With a welcoming atmosphere and a dedication to affordable pricing, we believe the Pix is an important part of the neighborhood and we hope it will play a prominent role in the continued resurgence of the downtown. Over the past few months we have come to love our new home and are happy that we went “all in”.
Now we turn to our friends and community for the next step. As many of you probably know, the motion picture business has changed, and the Pix must acquire a digital projector if we are going to continue to serve the community of Albany and surrounding areas. We could really use your help so that the Pix can remain the place that many have come to love.
What We Need & What You Get
We shopped around and the the best deal we have found for a new DCI compliant projector is $36,000. We are hoping that our friends and community will come together to help us achieve the goal. In return for your contribution, we are offering some cool rewards. With a range between $5 and $1,000 we believe there’s a price that will fit any budget.
We really love the T-shirts that we’ve designed with our Pix designer the famous Scott Elliott and our stylish new friends at No Dinx, and wearing it saves you money as well. (Make sure you include a note about male or female cut and what size!) There’s cups, tubs, stickers, private parties and more. Even some stuff for your business. But mostly, if we succeed, you help us continue to provide a locally-owned, friendly, neighborhood alternative to the corporate multiplex, where you can do more than just “see a movie”, you can have an experience!
If we surpass our goal, we will use the money to purchase some additional stuff that will enhance the Pix experience, such as a silver screen (giving us the option for 3D) a caramel corn machine (yum), and perhaps even a lighted marquee so that you’ll be able to see what fantastic movies are coming your way!
Other Ways You Can Help
Beyond donating, you can also help by getting the word out about the Pix and our campaign. Indiegogo has some terrific share tools built right in. We’re hoping that we can all join in and do this thing together!
So what do you say? Ready to help the Pix project into the future?
