Hello! I'm Lauren. This is my second year at Maharishi University of Management, studying film and music. I am both the director and Writer of The Playhouse, and am very excited to see how far this project will go. This is the first narrative film I have written and set out to create. I have made a handful of short abstract visual poetry pieces and am am thrilled to incorporate that style of cinematography and editing into The Playhouse film. Growing up I loved being around cameras, mainly photography. It wasn’t until I came here to MUM and was brought into this whole video-making world, that I realized I had a knack for it. I LOVE this artform, videography and music production are the two mediums I prefer to express myself with. The Playhouse means so much to me. It was written around my own memories and experiences growing up in theater. I wanted to create a film that reflected the same challenges I had to face at that age. This film shows the importance of the arts while also touching on themes such as, self realization, acceptance, and letting go of the past. I am very proud of what we have accomplished so far, and hope that we can create a great film for you.
Hey, my name’s Gregory Matos and I’m a second-year film student at Maharishi University of Management. My passion for filmmaking lift off after reminiscing with my mom over drawings I made back in elementary school. One of my drawings, from second grade, was of me saying “I want to be a storyteller when I grow up.” Throughout my high school years, I directed the VFX department for my school’s theater program. Through the program I demonstrated my abilities with photography and photo editing, landing me jobs working for wedding photography and videography studios. After graduation, I felt I was ready for independent work and collegiate projects. Lauren LeBritton’s short film The Playhouse will be my first take, being part of professional film production. And I’ve never been more excited.
Hi, I'm Kishan Thijm. I'm a third-year student here at MUM, and I'm the Director of Photography for the Playhouse. I'm majoring in Media and Communications with a focus in film. My storytelling passions started when I was around seven years old, just starting to learn to play the piano. As I grew older, I accumulated a few other passions as well, such as guitar, photography, and cinematography. It wasn't until I became older that I realized that pretty much all art forms are most effective when there's a story behind it. The Playhouse will also be the first time I'm in a more professional environment. I hope that we tell the story of Steven and the Playhouse members effectively via this film!
We're raising money for our passion project, The Playhouse. What we plan to accomplish during this process is to unify the community via the various roles that go into making this film.
We estimate that we need around $2500. The money will go to props, set design, costume design, locations, etc. Approximately 35% of our funds will go to props, 15% to advertising, and 50% to all the people involved.
