Hello!
We're Playwright Charlene Donaghy and Producer/Director William Brown. We’ve had success with plays in New York City and around the country, and Charlene's collection of plays, Bones of Home and Other Plays, published by Hansen Publishing Group, will transport you to New Orleans.
Our current, exciting project is Charlene's full-length stage play The Quadroon and the Dove, set in 1841 New Orleans where secrets fuel betrayals and threaten the delicate balance of a world poised on the precipice of change. The Quadroon and the Dove is a stunning historical portrait of power, gender and race where the price to pay for love is absolute. This unforgettable story is wrapped in pain, beauty, mystery, lust and true love. It reveals a little known time in American history that continues to reverberate in our modern culture today.
What people are saying about The Quadroon and the Dove:
“With plays that are intoxicating and mysterious, Donaghy has a gift for finding the truth that lurks below our eccentricities.” - Doug Wright, Tony Award winning playwright
The Quadroon and the Dove gives audiences “…a close up look at not only the lengths people will go to attain their heart’s desire, but the obsessions that drive them there.” - Melissa Wrap, of The Memphis Daily Helmsman
"Charlene writes stories that give voice beyond the boundaries of race, sex, or privilege, painting pictures of human conditions, taking her audiences on journeys through the gift and magic of her words." - Jackie Davis, Artistic Director New Urban Theatre Laboratory
"Charlene is not afraid to take her readers and audience to the dark places—whether that's during a contentious time in history, a city's complex past or a character's uncontrollable desire. For it is through her exploration of the dark, that Charlene ultimately shows us the light in all of humanity." - Jami Brandli, author, Technicolor Life, BLISS
