So, what is The Quantum Terror?

We're passionate about sci-fi/horror that involves crazy creatures with tentacles, teeth, claws, and off the wall concepts, that weave together in a good story.  We have fun with these ideas, but take them very seriously, too. We aim to bring together some of the top independent film making talents residing in Austin, TX and beyond to demonstrate that (now more than ever) artistry over a big studio budget can make for excellent film making.

We've used practical effects, animation, miniatures, puppets, and minimalist sets, combined with intimate storytelling and good acting to create an alternate reality, inhabited by impossible creatures of madness. We've reverse engineered some big budget effects so that we can recreate them using cheaper materials, secured the perfect house location, and converted a garage into a mini sound stage. Combined with clever lighting and photography, we believe that you'll never be able to notice or tell that you're not watching a big budget Hollywood film.

The Story

Samantha Carol's twin sister Silvia has gone missing, without a trace. The only clues that Sam has to go on are notebooks filled with strange quantum physics equations combined with scribblings about the occult, that have been left behind. Silvia's ex-boyfriend and fellow college classmate claims he has seen her going into the nearby drainage tunnels that run under the town he lives in, however he himself is a suspect in her disappearance.

Accompanied by Sam's concerned ex-lover Lucy, with new boyfriend in tow, the now group of four go down into the tunnels where strange alien creatures and alterations of reality, will confront them with their deepest desires and darkest inner truths. Now, the question isn't just whether they will find Silvia or not, but if it's even possible for them to ever get out again.

Production Philosophy

We've been inspired by the successful production of other small, crowdfunded films that have come before us, such as StudioADI's Harbinger Down (directed by Alec Gillis) Tom Woodruff, Jr's Fire City, and Alan Moore & Mitch Jenkins' His Heavy Heart. It is our belief that it is the artists behind a film, and not huge amounts of money that bring quality to a production. A smart script and pre-planning through storyboards and concept design can make all the difference.

The Crew

Producer, Writer, Director, and VFX Artist Christopher Moonlight: Most notably known for his design work for TV and films, such as Live Forever: The Ray Bradbury Odyssey and Harbinger Down, Christopher is also the publisher of Moonlight Art Magazine, the co-host of the FX podcast show The Practical People, and producer of films like Girl In The Window, When Hollywood Green-Lit Comic-Con, and My Little Zombie.

Special Makeup FX Artist Jenna Green: Jenna most notably competed on season #4 of the SyFy Channel effects challenge show Face Off and created many of the creatures for the movie Army Of Frankensteins. Her love of horror and her experience as a leader/mentor to other aspiring FX artists maker her the perfect choice to be the head of our creature department.

Executive Producer James Hudnall: James' years of experience as a comic book and TV writer (he co-created the Ultraverse for Malibu Comics and the show Harsh Realm) as well as a teacher, make him a first rate member of our team, working close with us to make sure that both the visual and storytelling style of our film is as close to perfection as we can make it. 

The Cast

Starring Actress Kristin Cochell: Kristin is an Acting Coach as well as USC (Los Angeles) trained actress in Stanislavski System, Meisner and Strasberg. She's worn prosthetics, inhabited the stage, and is becoming a familiar face on the screen.

Paula Marcenaro Solinger: Originally a theater actress in her native country of Argentina, Paula has a reoccurring character on the TV show Salem and can be seen in the films Flashes and Blood Sombrero just to name a few. Her show reel, is pretty awesome, too.

Matt Blackwell: It's only fitting that our antagonist can be spotted lurking in shows like From Dusk Till Dawn the series and American Crime. Bit is his character all he seems to be?

Artist & Actor Val Mayerik: Best know as the co-creator of Marvel's Howard The Duck, Val not only makes his living as an amazing comic book artist, but has acted for screen and stage, directed his own short films, and even worked as a stand in on Deer Hunter.

Jordan Michael Brinkman: A relative newcomer, Jordan has been involved in stage and small productions. He's wowed us with his audition, and are really excited to see him break out in this role.

Dimitrius Pulido: (pending availability) Dimitrius' early career was spent on such shows as General Hospital, but his career has also spanned such films as Machete, Sin City: A Dame To Kill For, and the upcoming film Harbinger. Check out his amazing show reel, here.

They've won an Oscar for their FX work on Death Becomes Her, and were nominated for Alien3 & Starship Troopers. We are honored to say that ADI co-owners Tom Woodruff, Jr. and Alec Gillis have contributed animatronic tentacles to this film.

Anthony Gutierrez

With over 20 years of broadcast experience to call upon, Anthony is also the magic eye behind the highly anticipated indie horror film Circus of the Dead.

Frankenstein

Legendary deathrocker Dave Grave and his band of merry mutoids will be contributing a number from their album A Shameless Act Of Self Preservation, that will be featured in the closing credits of the film.
